Yeah, those damn Cousins rumors don't seem to go away. If we're seriously going to pursue him, then I think we're picking MPJ or trading to get Luka.

Yea idk how to feel about that. I'm not a fan of Cousins. I don't want MPJ so give me Luka. There goes my Mo Bamba dream. Watch him turn it to be like Embiid....

Is MPJ an iso type? Cousins is although he can be a decent passer. Along with Barnes that would be three iso ballers along with a shoot first pg in DSJ. Not sure I like that. Atlanta plz help

Don’t fuck this up, Mavs.

Most reliable sources have us picking Bamba though. That's who my final pick is.
This draft actually might not be as drama filled as we think it will be...esp if there are no trades at the top end.

Sources: Phoenix (Arizona’s DeAndre Ayton) and Sacramento (Duke’s Marvin Bagley III) have locked in on the NBA Draft’s Nos. 1 and 2 picks.

What time do they start announcing picks? 6:30? 6:35? Central time?

For those interested: ESPN’s NBA Draft rundown has the Mavs going to the podium with the 5th pick at approximately 6:58 pm CT.

Zach Klein @ZachKleinWSB
Feeling among multiple NBA league sources I've spoken with...
Hawks take Luka at #3.. trade him to Dallas at #5, then Hawks take Trae Young.
Baze might also be in play tonight as part of deal

I didn’t hear it, but this Atl guy was just on Dallas radio per a Skin tweet. Someone on dB.com said the guy said the trade was 5, 33, and wes for 3 and Bazemore.

33 too? That's a bit steep.

Would be awful for the Mavs.
Just keep the Pick. Even 33 is pretty good this year.
Bazemore kills the Cap next year while Wes is off the books next year. Not like Mavs going to contend anyway next season

I think the picks start some time after 7:00 CST. An hour of hype before. I heard that on the radio.

YES! Bazemore and Luka is a huge deal if that happens. We need a defensive guard to go with those guys. PLEASE!

In order for this to happen the Mavs will also have to trade for the 4th pick to prevent Cleveland from trading up and taking Trae Young.
Rumored deal: Dallas trades Barnes and unprotected 2019 1st for 4th pick and Parsons. Dallas would then use the pick on Jackson or Bamba.

Funky that after more than a decade on this board and so many burned nights for even regular season games - this will be the first draft that I'll watch live, ever.

Edit: Baze earns LESS this year than Matthews. He actually gives us 0.5mill more in cap space for 2018-2019 FAs.

Wait, why? Bazemore earns a tiny bit less this year. He brings down our cap this year by 533k.
It's next year that Bazemore hurts us. He earns 19.3 while Matthews is a UFA with full bird rights that doesn't count if we waive our rights to him.

Yes we can, although I wouldn’t want to. Wes and Baze salaries match so Dallas would keep its cap space.

And ATL does this without additional picks attached? You would think we pitch them at least a second rounder, but probably a future first?

Here are the four teams that cannot take in cash tonight in a trade: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Philadelphia. Any trade would have to be post 7/6 when the new cap year starts and each team will have $5.2M to receive.

We can't include money in the Hawks trade (because they can't receive money), but we can send out 5.1 mill as part of a deal for a first rounder or to buy a second rounder if its to one of the other 26 teams.

Receive. Cavs and Heat are the only 2 teams that can't buy a pick.

Baze has more years in his contract than Wes. We would be saving them money long term.

I agree 100% with Erica. Don't think about who you "may" be able to sign. Get the best player you can in the draft. If that's Luka, then do it. If it's Bamba or Jackson, do it. Even if they took Bamba or Jackson, they need a few years. Cousins would still make sense if he wanted to come here. Free agency shouldn't figure at all in the draft.

I like Bazemore-- younger 3/D guy than Matthews, but yeah. We'd be trading an early first and 20mill in cap space in 2019-2020 to trade up two spaces. Then again, if Doncic is a generational player like Dirk, then that's a no-brainer.
