I always thought it was odd that NBA All Stars are selected by the fans, as many times as they want to vote. This makes it about the most popular players, and not the best players. I think if you had the players and coaches pick the All Stars, you would have a different lineup.

Any thoughts?

Absolutely it would be different. I was watching ESPN classic, and it showed an all star game from the early 70's that Lew Alcindor and Elgin Baylor were left out of because the fans had no say in who was in the game back then. It was the coaches and media back then.

I thought the fans only vote for the starters and the coaches vote for the reserves?
