Dickey, Drese, Benoit, and Cobra Lewis
Just some stats on 4 of the youngsters in the staff. No, they're all not 24 year olds or anything, but they are all young enough to be contributors to a pitching staff for years to come. In all honesty, I don't believe that the Rangers looked at Drese and Dickey as players that would be on this roster long term. They were simply 'place' holders until some of the young studs in the minors were ready to take their turn in the majors.
Well, they're doing their best to force their ways into the Rangers' plans with the way they're throwing the ball.
Cobra Lewis was/is considered part of the long term plans.
Benoit, well, early this season was basically his last chance. If he didn't put it together, he was done as a Ranger. The Rangers are out of options with the guy and wanted to give him just one chance.
So far this season, they have combined to pitch 79 1/3 innings in 13 starts.
They are 7-2 in those 13 games.
