Default Mavs @ Philadelphia Game Day Thread 11/9

@

Both teams tonight have come off wins over their teams Conference favorites. Confidence will be high on both sides.

Philadelphia had gotten off to a slow start before the win over Indiana. Both teams are well rested, having not played since Saturday.

Only one team can win. The Mavs may not have "The Answer", but we do have Dirk.

I will take Dirk. And Josh. And Terry.....

Without TO, and any semblence of a run game, Iverson gets sacked 6 times. Mavs by 14 touchdowns.

Oh dear. Why didnt you do something, Doc?

This is going to be a test. I know we are all really high on this team but until we prove otherwise, we are an inconsistent team (which is perfectly normal for a team learning the game). Philadelphia is more dangerous than you'd think, and they just came off a big win against Indiana, whom a few posters here want to give a championship to.

The real questions for me are
1) Can we stop Iverson? We let Nash tear us up for most of the Phoenix game, then let Parker tear us a new one and gave up open shots to McLeod and Williams. The Sixers, like the Suns depend on penetration from the best l'il penetrator in the East. Harris might get the call and we might see 6-10minutes from DA if our defense isnt good enough.

2) Will we get center play from our centers? Will Damp drop 14points, 26rebounds, 7blocks, 2assists, imposing his will against the skinnies or will he find himself outmatched in speed and sitting on the bench? Will Diop be able to play and/or be effective?

3) Can we keep a hand in Korver's face? Can we slow or match the athleticism of Iggi?

4) Will Dirk and KVH abuse Korver and Webber like a red-headed step-mule?

5) can we take care of these weak mo-fos without losing focus and letting them mount any sort of comeback?

Hunter is a rebounding liability. Both Korver and Webber are porous, immobile defenders. AI throws up junk if you pressure his teammates a little and keep him from laying it up every time. Iggi is still a little immature.

Sounds like the Mavs are playing pretty poorly, but they still have the lead.

CWebb doing a fine job helping the Mavs in their efforts - 2 for 11 from the floor so far with a couple of turnovers.

If Dirk can avoid his 4th foul here in the first half, Mavs will probably easily pull away in the second half.

With CWebb and AI shooting a combined 5 for 23 in the first half, the Sixers are lucky to be within 6. Any further word on Dirk at this point?

Damp and Daniels having good games so far as well. Harris apparently remembered who he actually is in the first half. Wonder if he'll slip back into the trance he was in against the Spurs in the second half (or if he'll get the chance to do so).

boy, we are sure playing dumb right now. no effort either. it's going to be tough to come back in this one.

and one last gripe...why the hell is avery playing this small lineup? he goes small, philly comes back. same thing that happened against Utah. Good coaches learn from their mistakes...

Would Memphis do a daniels for Mike Miller deal? We need to get better outside shooting.

Why is dampier not in the game when he has the best stat-line of his mavs career?

because Avery Johnson has absolutely no f'in clue. He looks like a freakin deer in the headlights out there when we are getting beat and forgets about his rotations. he decides to f'in go small when damp picks up #4 instead of going to diop, who is playing good and we get killed on the glass and to loose balls. this is two on Avery.
