Amazing. Simple amazing.
And more considering the Nellie ball.
<< I know it's JUST the regular season. >>
It matters! Regular season makes up to 80-90 % of the total season (and 100% for some teams).

Yup, and nothing in this thread offers any evidence of the Mavs' future playoff performance.

All true, Dooby and Fidel. I offered the stats without saying anything about the future. I'm on record as saying that I don't think we're playoff ready.
I went back very quickly to try to answer UL's question about the top5 teams in the league. It appears that the records against one another are:
Sac 3-0
Mavs 4-2
Det 4-4
Indy 2-4
N.J. 2-5
I'll double check that.
Interesting Note: Detroit is 2-1 against both Indiana and New Jersey.

Thanks Fidel and OP,
though it's hard to say that the Mavs don't have some sort of mental block when it comes to playing LA and Sac, it looks like the claim that Mavs don't play well against good teams is not well-founded.
I went through to look at a couple of other teams I though should be considered good teams. Here's their records against each other:
SAC 9-4
NJN 7-4
SAS 6-5
Dallas 6-6
PHO 7-7
LAL 5-8
POR 5-9
IND 1-3

The Mavs are the only team not to lose to a team under .500

UL I looked into how the western conference playoff teams played against each other. The results were a bit surprising (at least to me). The Mavs are actually looking good in that comparison. And look at the Utah record. They defintitly should have had an all star.
dallas 7-6
sac 9-8
portland 7-9
Spurs 7-6
Houston 7-9
Phoenix 7-8
Utah 8-5
Minnesota 7-7

The Lakers have yet to reach .500.
