Vince Young looked like a mental midget on that play. Why in the heck would you throw a floater in the middle of the field?
t.u. loses this game if Young can't get 'r done.

Halftime
UT 10 - 16 OSU
UT: 2 turnovers
OSU: 0 turnovers
after two bonehead plays that led to the turnovers on their own side of the field, the ut defense thankfully held them to just 2 field goals..

NEVERMIND!@
after ohio state's stupid decision to kick the ball short AND a late hit penalty with 30 seconds left..
the longhorns took advantage, drove the ball the field, and scored a fieldgoal (off the post)
halftime
UT 13 - 16 OSU

The key will be whether or not davis tightens up and takes the ball out of vinces hands. I cant believe im saying this but ut hasnt run the zone read enough. They cant get scared and get overly conservative though. Great game so far. glad we r playing a horrible team so i dont have to miss the ut game.

what a great game by the longhorns, gotta give them credit, they beat a really really good ohio state team in the 'shoe. these teams looked so evenly matched....if osu makes that field goal they prolly win, but texas made the play at the end. great game.

RE: Texas Longhorns - Road to the National Championship Thread!
WOW. Vince is unstopable once he gets going. They limit him to about 80 yards rushing(which is still pretty damn good) and he ends up throwing for almost 300.
Finally UT DOESN'T choke

The receivers aren't going to be significantly better than the guy throwing them the ball. VY's below average when it comes to doing that.

VY may win the Heisman...but it won't be because of his arm. He'll have an opportunity to hit open receivers BECAUSE of his legs, not because of his arm. Teams have to guard against his ability to run so much that it'll open up opportunities for him to have success with the arm.
With that being said, VY is by no means above average when it comes to throwing the ball. He is just so amazing with his legs that he can compensate for his shortcomings when it comes to throwing the ball.
He's an amazing player to watch...yet infuriating at the same time.

RE: Texas Longhorns - Road to the National Championship Thread!
...i'm not even going to count his 1st int against him...that's what makes Vince Vince. He made the same play last year in Arkansas and dumped it off to Ced for a touchdown which turned out the be the difference in the game.
Also Jamal Charles showed me something tonight. In didn't put much stock in his performance against U lala since he was 5 yards down the field before he got hit. Tonight he put his head down and picked up some tough yards and unlike Selvin (who should be finished as our primary back) he held on to the ball.
...plus he laid out Carpenter on that int return despite being outweighed by more then 50 pounds.

RE:Texas Longhorns - Road to the National Championship Thread!
The first INT is unacceptable. They won't survive the season as an undefeated team for long if he makes many more decisions like that.
INT's like that often get returned for TD's... There's a difference between using your mobility to survive the rush as opposed to just flinging the ball out of your ass with no idea where the ball is going to go.
As for Selvin Young, do the kid a favor and move him to WR. He has no future at the next level as a RB. He has little future at UT as a RB in my opinion. Move him to some other position so that you can utilize his speed.

he is a better passer than vick. and he runs every bit as well. vick completed less than half his passes in college whereas vince is a career 60% passer. Murphy it doesnt matter why he is successful as a passer all that matters is that he is. He is a much much much better passer than either of the osu qbs. i cant wait to see what the gameday guys say.

RE:Texas Longhorns - Road to the National Championship Thread!
I understand that it doesn't matter why....Trust me, I'm a Vince Young fan...one of the biggest. However, his throwing ability is below average for a major conference QB...without a doubt.
VY had something that the OSU QB's didn't have....wide open receivers. Why did he have wide open receivers? Because of his ability to scramble...You have to account for VY as a runner in every situation..regardless of whether or not it's normally a passing situation.

Turnovers, dropped interceptions. Just about as many mistakes you can make against a damn good Ohio State team and still give yourself a chance to win. My heart feels funny. I need a long rest before Oklahoma. Anyway, great game. Hook em'

I'd agree if I didn't see him make that same play for a touchdown last season. It's like with Bret Farve (at least the Farve of a few years ago he sucks now), you'd put up with him throwing int's with defenders hanging off of him because you knew he'd make up for it. IMO if you take away Vince's ability to improvise you take away what makes him a great college QB.

Please, do not compare VY to 'Brett Farve'.
And no one is taking away his ability to improvise...no one mentioned that at all. However, there is a difference between improvising and stupidity. The first INT was a stupid mistake.

RE: Texas Longhorns - Road to the National Championship Thread!
If UT doesn't pull this one out then my play of the game is the int that Drew Kelson dropped. We were up 10-3 and could have taken control of the game if we scored there. In the end Kelson made what may have been the play of the game. Big night for Houston...

RE:Texas Longhorns - Road to the National Championship Thread!
btw it ended up not hurting and ut should have not let him catch the ball anyway but did anyone else notice on the replay that the guy "dove" off of his left knee? he was already down and got the first down because of where he landed. dont know how the td catch by sweed didnt make the top plays. Jamaal charles reminds me of a faster quentin griffin. ut should win out. vince took the early lead for the heisman but there will be many others to have a say. when was the last time the favorite after 2 games won it?
