Watch him go back to Portland now. Mavs made their offer at least.

@WojYahooNBA: Free agent LaMarcus Aldridge will sign with the San Antonio Spurs, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

@espn_macmahon: The Texas Triangle isn't going to be much fun for NBA teams.

Southwest division is unreal and unfair.

Wonder how many times that has happened...especially consecutive seasons?

It will be brutal but fun next season.

I was really hoping he'd go to PHX so they'd have to S&T Markieff. Oh well.

can some of you experts there explain again how spurs could create enough cap room to absorb aldridge?

i heard something like that duncan has to come back at 6 mil, and spurs have to renounce pretty much everyone to make it work.

any experts to clarify?

That's exactly the scenario I heard. Gino could come back at a min deal or part of under cap exception

Spurs currently already have only Anderson, Mills, Diaw, Parker under contract (+Leonard and draftees I think). They should have around 42 mil to spend on Leonard, Aldridge, Duncan, Ginobili and scrubs.

Every time you think the SW couldn't get any tougher, stuff happens. Would be very interested in an estimation how many wins and/or seeds you lose just by playing in that division.

Vegas already moving Spurs into position of best odds in the West to win the title next year, ahead of Golden State (still lower odds than Cleveland).

Wouldn't be surprised...they have the complete package, best system and best coach.

Wonder where we stand?

Yeah, they are going to be tough. I expect they won't win the #1 seed cuz Pop is gonna rest his guys often. But they will be ready to ball in May.

Even with rest they are running out a Duncan, West, LMA, Diaw frontline with Leonard at the 3.

With free agency in full swing, the balance of power in the NBA is beginning to look a little clearer.

There’s still a full training camp, preseason, regular season and playoffs before we get to the NBA Finals, but the oddsmakers at Bovada already have a glimpse at the betting favorites for the 2015-16 title.

The Mavericks currently sit at 20/1 odds to win the next championship. Considering the Mavericks’ 40-1 odds for the 2015 title at the start of last season’s playoffs, betting line providers seem to be impressed by Dallas’ changes to the roster this offseason.

While the Mavs are high on the list, they’re tied with some familiar foes in Houston, Memphis and the Clippers at 20/1.

Here’s a look at the full odds as of July 6.

1. Cleveland Cavaliers: 11/4
T2. Golden State Warriors: 9/2
T2. San Antonio Spurs: 9/2
4. Oklahoma City Thunder: 15/2
5. Chicago Bulls: 16/1
T6. Dallas Mavericks: 20/1
T6. Houston Rockets: 20/1
T6. Los Angeles Clippers: 20/1
T6. Memphis Grizzlies: 20/1
T10. Atlanta Hawks: 33/1
T10. New Orleans Pelicans: 33/1
T12. Indiana Pacers: 40/1
T12. Miami Heat: 40/1
T12. Toronto Raptors: 40/1
T12. Washington Wizards: 40/1
T16. Los Angeles Lakers: 50/1
T16. Milwaukee Bucks: 50/1
18. Boston Celtics: 66/1
19. Portland Trail Blazers: 75/1
T20. Detroit Pistons: 100/1
T20. Phoenix Suns: 100/1
T20. Utah Jazz: 100/1
T23. Brooklyn Nets: 150/1
T23. Denver Nuggets: 150/1
T23. Minnesota Timberwolves: 150/1
T23. New York Knicks: 150/1
T23. Sacramento Kings: 150/1
T28. Charlotte Hornets: 250/1
T28. Orlando Magic: 250/1
T28. Philadelphia 76ers: 250/1

Yea, but you sign your own free agents last, since you own Bird rights. Aldridge will count, + cap holds on Duncan/Manu/Green...then again if their cap holds are more than their verabally agreed upon 15-16 salary, they just might want to sign Manu and Duncan early. They can probably wait on Green.
