Nick Angstadt, from Mavsmoneyball, compared J3 with Karl Anthony-Towns on the Locked On Mavs podcast. He stated both players were used poorly by their college coaches and they put up similar numbers in college. TBH, I don't want J3, but that gives me hope that J3 can be more than a glorified role player.

I wonder if Nick is reading this board? I posted the same thing last week...

Quick Mock

1) PHX - D. Ayton
2) SAC - M. Bagley
3) ATL - T. Young (desperate to fill seats)
4) MEM - L. Doncic (fits in perfect)
5) DAL - M. Porter Jr. (with the proverbial *if healthy* designation)
6) ORL - M. Bamba
7) CHI - JJJ (upside too high to pass on here, despite similarities to Lauri)
8) CLE - C. Sexton (a bit of a reach, but they will buy out George Hill and rebuild)
9) NYK - W. Carter Jr. (they avoid paying Kanter)
10) PHI - Mik. Bridges (easy call for them)
11) CHA - Mil. Bridges (allows them to try to shed MKG, Batum, or Williams.)
12) LAC - L. Walker (betting on upside)
13) LAC - S. Gilgeous-Alexander (see above)
14) DEN - K. Knox (hard to pass up his potential here)
15) WAS - Z. Smith (hustler/ defender for a team known for being soft)
16) PHX - J. Evans (good glue piece for a team that will need hustle/ leadership)
17) MIL - R. Williams (solves one of the Bucks biggest problems)
18) SAS - K. Huerter (Spurs desperate for some consistent spacing)
19) ATL - D. DiVencenzo (looking for perimeter scoring)
20) MIN - S. Milton (they need someone to handle the rock)
21) UTA - L. Shamet (Jazz go with the versatile floor spacer)
22) CHI - G. Trent Jr.
23) IND - E. Okobo
24) POR - M. Robinson
25) LAL - D. Musa
26) PHI - K. Thomas
27) BOS - J. Brunson (prepping for departures of Smart and Rozier)
28) GS - C. Hutchinson
29) BKN - J. Okogie
30) ATL - O. Spellman

I knew I saw that somewhere on the thread. Nice work man. I would love to have the next KAT if the numbers translate. Oh and I bet Jackson Jr will be wayyyyyyyy better than Zach Collins.

I like JJJ a lot but can't get that bad performance in the tourney out of my head. He has all of the tools to be a perfect modern day center but not sure he has enough competitiveness to be an NBA star which is what we desperately need from this draft.
I certainly wouldn't be upset if we pick him and would definitely take him over Porter. Probably not Bamba though.

I originally compared him to Towns just to illustrate that MPG in college doesn’t say too much about how a player projects to perform in the pros, but the more I looked at their stats, the more I noticed they had basically the same production in college.

I’m skeptical that JJJ ends up as good as KAT on overall offense, but he’ll be light years better on defense. He’s right up there with Mikal and Mo as one of the best defenders in the draft. And 40% shooting from beyond the arc gives him the potential to be something we haven’t really seen in the league yet: a rim-protecting stretch-5... A unicorn.

Not sure who brought up Zach Collins, but he can’t hold Jaren Jackson Jr’s jock.

I personally think if J3 hits on all his potential he's the best big in the draft. But that's a big if. I too would take Bamba over him but he's loaded with potential.

I feel like Jackson has the best all-around game, he just needs to learn discipline so he can hone in on those skills, whereas Bamba and Bagley have glaring weaknesses that need to be turned around (offense and defense, respectively).
