It works like this:
When Romney and Huckabee squared off in the primaries, they were each very courteous and careful to not say anything that might offend regarding religion. But, religion mattered to the upmost as the only reason Huckabee stayed in the contest was on the back of the evangelical south.
When Steele and Obama interact, there will be the utmost attention to courtesy and respect. But, race will still matter and Steele will still be a "lawn jockey" to those who view him as a traitor
