You're right. During a time of loss like this we simply do not think clearly. I appreciate everyone's understanding.

Well and the Portugal being fully vaccinated news pretty much blows any anti-vaxxing bs right out of the water. They still have cases, but their deaths are like 4 per day in a country of 10 million.
And that's just the thing that people need to understand. We will still have cases, no doubt. But we could be talking about a few hundred deaths per year versus a couple thousand a day if everyone was vaccinated.

That is a very immature mindset. I do agree that most people should be vaccinated. However, I would never wish ill on another human not named Lebron James.

100%. I'm really hoping Biden just issues a vaccine mandate eventually. The sooner the better.

Anecdotal examples are easy to come by and can be misleading, but they are also first hand dealings with this thing as long as they affect you personally.
My 9 year old niece has covid in a family of 4 with her parents and 12 year old brother all vaccinated. None of them got it or have any symptoms. And there is no way they weren't seriously exposed around her either. The three of them have the Pfizer vaccine.

Hope that in the foreseeable future there will be invented some really effective remedy against Covid-19 and its variants.

I mean, they are called vaccines, but there is a new drug called Molnupiravir that sounds promising. But it's still less effective than a vaccine (50% at preventing hospitalization and death) and apparently costs 700 bucks for a round of treatment so...

new variant seems more like a cold. if you take cold and flu ratios they are pretty much the same. so far.

I'm worried about my Dad now. 2 days ago he went into the ER since he was struggling to breathe. They performed blood work, chest x-rays, an EKG, and an MRI. They did not find anything and released him. They told him that they would send all of that to his general care physician. He had an appointment to see someone about his difficulty breathing on the 26th. He didn't like that at all. Last night he was having chest pain and again experienced difficulty breathing. It really scared him, and he was admitted back into the hospital. They performed more x-rays and found a large aortic aneurysm. Right now we're just waiting to find out how they're going to proceed. He may need surgery, and for now he cannot eat or drink anything.

Damn man, you've been hit hard by this bugger. So sorry to hear that. Is he vaccinated/boosted?
I'm triple vaxxed and got it right after Christmas. Luckily, it was mostly sore throat and fatigue. Still annoying that the vaccines aren't stopping infection from Omicron.

Yes, he had his booster around the same time as you did.

sorry to hear that man...
aortic aneurysm is no joke. if it's big enough, surgery is the only thing to be done because of the risk of rupture.
hope your dad gets to feeling better.

Basically everyone I know has gotten it in the past week or two. Ones who are boosted are fairing better than those who aren't. I got it right after Christmas...sore throat, slight cough, fatigue...nothing major. Got my booster right before thanksgiving.
There really is no avoiding it at this point.

Any get it and have effects months afterwords? My fevers and cough were really mild and passed in less than 3 days, but I lost taste and smell for 2 weeks. I used to work out 5 times a week before I got COVID, I can't now cause I get weird carpal tunnel like syndrome in my arms and my back is always sore. It's been 2 months since I've gotten it.
I was double vaxed and boosted.
