The best computer games were all made between the years 1990-95. Computers were just powerful enough so that games could be complex, but the graphics weren't good enough to sell games by itself. So designers had to come up with decent puzzles and clever storylines and dialog as well.

Like Space Quest (see avatar). I love Space Quest.
