Spurs release James White...Any interest?
Spurs released James White.
Anyone think we'll be at all interested in the athletic defensive minded guard/forward?

The Spurs desperately need a long athletic small forward so I think it says something that they just released one who wouldn't cost much. Even for the money watching Spurs. The knock on him was that he wasn't being physical enough nor focused on playing defense in the SL.
I'm sure some team will scoop him up though.

He's also had chemistry problems at every level with every team.. however, he seemed to be a fairly efficient bench player, especially considering how relatively deep the Spurs are in the backcourt.. he averaged 8.3ppg on 43% shooting and 3.3rpg in just 15 minutes.. wouldn't he at least be worth a look?

The fact that White is a small forward and that the Spurs drafted a small forward and are chasing another small forward in free agency should pretty much say it all. Someone will give him a look, but if he couldn't get out of street clothes in San Antonio he wouldn't be able to in Dallas either.

I don't know i'd definately love to have him on the Mavs. The Spurs are just giving up on guys after 1 year. I don't know if it means that White can't play. Spurs may have something else in mind like getting a solid veteran at the 3 spot. Not sure what they are thinking but i'd take a look at White on athleticism alone.

The guy is an athletic freak and supposedly he can D up, which is why they gave him a chance in the first place.

Most great basketball players are great athletes. Some athletes use their athleticism and it gets them very far in this league. Bruce Bowen is a prime example. Even Dennis Rodman.

I understand your point Alby, but unless he's just as head-case to work with, I don't understand why we wouldn't be interested in at least looking at a guy who was supposedly supposed to replace Bown's perimeter D when he retires.
I think he cold eventually be an assett under Avery's guidance.
edit: By the way, I'd probably take him over Pops.

Man, he had his Stats in SIX games with the Spurs... all at the end of the regular season.
He can't shoot, he can't pass, he can't play D. All he can is DUNK... so nothing for us! But he has to stay in the NBA because I wanna see im at a SDC!!!!!!!!!!

the guys are spurs talk must be really depressed. he's kinda like their JJB. minus the mad game.
i'm relieved. someone else found out for us that he sucks. at one point last year, we were projected to pick him up in the 2nd round.
