LOL. Embarrassing evening for our Mavs.
Jet gets his ankles broken like I've never seen before. That'll be on highlight reels for a while.
Dirk gets rattled and is completely taken out of his game. We've seen this before.
Deron comes back and does whatever he wants like most guards do against our perimeter defense.
Winning against the Heat, Magic and Blazers were big. But these blow out losses are concerning. I've never seen a team completely bail out once they hit a bump in the road. And yes, Dirk is the one that does it the most. His entire game changes if he faces adversity, and it greatly affects this ball club.

What's the point of having a tag feature if the mods are just going to close it?

It's one game. Just like the last four. Ease off the hate, or find another team. The Mavs are what they are. Hating a guy who wins more games for you than any other on this team doesn't seem like a fan to me.

Seriously put the bench in! Whats the point of leaving Dirk out there and risk an injury?

It's not one game. Everytime this team gets pushed in the wrong direction (which is often, and has been for about 3 years) they fold and pucker in the fetal position. It may be one game if you look at just today, but this isn't an isolated incident.

Yeah. I love the guy, always will. But when he sometimes faces adversity he becomes so frustrated and takes himself out of the ball game. Even the little things like when he never boxed out Okur on a Utah miss and it led to a wide open three. He just seems to let it get to him and it kills the entire squad.

It's almost like he subconsciously gives half effort once everything *seems* to go against him. That way he has another chance to throw his arms down, take out his mouth piece and complain.

The only thing I would say to that, especially in tonight's case, what about guys like Jet? Damp? Wright? Some of them aren't needed for the scoring, but they were pretty off in their roles tonight.
Dirk DOES let it get to him, but that doesn't give everyone else a get out of jail free pass.

You're right, and I hope that the FO keeps in mind that this team not only needs a good basketball player as the result of a trade, but also someone who is tough and keeps on going no matter what.

IMO, Green looks like a much better player than Carroll. Much better stroke.

Green should play ahead of Wright. Wright's defense is vastly overrated.

No it doesn't, but Dirk is our leader. He is our franchise. I'm sure guys look at him for leadership, and when they see he's not in the best of spirits, that can't help the team as a whole. Now, everyone is entitled to get upset. But Dirk tonight just didn't play hard. Another example was when he lobbed the in bounds pass in right to Deron Williams for the easy layup. You expect more of that from your superstar. It just comes with the territory.

I know its garbage time but seriously why can't Green see anytime? You can't tell me he didn't say or do something to warrant this doghouse he's in. It has to be personal.

As much as I love Dirk, I think that the last person to get frustrated and stop playing basketball should be the leader of the team. He sets a bad example and affects the rest of the team. It just happens.
Dirk has openly admitted to being a pessimist by nature. That's why fluid.forty.one's assessment is so dead on. A pessimist is just as likely to complain even more and just quit doing anything than to fight back.

Seriously... Wright is not a better player than Green is. He just isn't. He can actually hit an open jumpshot on occasion too.

I'm not sure if I'm explaining this the way I'm meaning to. It's kind of like when I play madden online. If I'm having really, really bad luck (like a botched kick return that gives up a touchdown, or some ridiculous bobble catch by the opposing team) I make things even worse for myself. I think things are going unfairly and it seems like that's always when I try to force something and throw a pick... Throwing that pick almost solidifies the "fact" that it's me against the world.

I can see that POV. I think he shows a lot of characteristics of a franchise player. I think Dirk would still come out ahead big time if you're counting games like tonight vs games where he's had to shoulder the load without any real help.
Everyone is going to have their games where it's just not there, it doesn't matter who they are. Dirk is Dirk and he finds a way to balance it out.

LOL
That's a perfect way to explain it. It's all a confidence game. When the confidence wanes, then you'll do things you normally don't.

I just don't get it. I just don't. And as a fan we deserve an explanation for why this teams best players aren't seeing court time. Its ridiculous. What this team lacks is what Green brings. And i'm not saying he fixes this teams problems. But dammnit i'm sick of seeing Barea at the 2. Wright at the 2. Wright is what he is. I'm not familiar with him but I guess he had a lot of potential coming out of college? I can't imagine no more than Green. Green has shown flashes. I made a joke earlier this year that he was playing so well that the Mavs may lose him after 2 years since we wouldn't have his bird rights. But the way he's being treated its like they're trying to lower his value.

It isn't just one game because the Mavs had a chance to get in the top 4 in the West. Now they slide back down to 7th and they play Boston next Thursday.
The Mavs shot themselves in the foot again. And if Cuban keeps this team he needs to be shot. The Mavs have no swagger way too many nights.
