I do miss Burrito Jimmy.

And Johnny Wyatt.

And crutch word of the week. (what was the ultimate crutch word? I can't remember. And whatever it was they would say "thank you" whenever someone used it. Which was humorous if they were doing an interview.)

I didn't bother getting tickets because I expect I'll be able to read a few recounts from Ticket blogs and/or forums.

The Tickets website is announcing a "major announcement regarding station programming" tomorrow at 8:30 am.

There's a rumor running around on the boards that the Ticket and 103.3 are merging. That's gotta be completely crap, but I bet it is something fairly major. Maybe the Cowboys are hopping to 105.3 for the better signal. Or maybe Norm is hanging it up.

Norm ain't hanging it up. That sumbitch has nothing else to do.

My guess is that they introduce the third man to the Hardline. (Sorely needed, by the way.)

EDIT: Maybe it's Walonsky.

I doubt they'd make a Hardline announcement on D&M's watch.

Hopefully it has something to do with the signal because I haven't been able to pick it up in my office for at least 6 months.

I read a recap of the event at the HOB from the BaD forums. Seemed pretty tame, not a whole lot of stories.

They did all talk about Greggo, but the recap I read was almost completely info that I already knew.

Certainly think the Station Programming announcement is less of a big deal now that I know that they didn't announce it last night. I'm sure it's about the Cowboys or about the signal. Or something even dumber.

Hmmmm. All Dallas Stars games.

That's going to cut the Hard Line off early repeatedly

The Ticket is the flagship for the Stars. Holy cow.

It makes sense. Bob does SO much stuff for the Stars now, and their post game show has always been the one to listen to...what WBAP does for a "post game" show is a complete joke. The guy basically gives some other scores and plays audio highlights for 7 minutes and that's it.

So....can the broadcast both? The seasons do crossover.

Also, can they take over 93.3 to simulcast every third night? If not that's a HUGE drop in signal from 820 to 1310.

Why would the Cowboys ever leave? The Ticket has always been Cowboys first and that's not going to change. They broadcast the games on 1310, and 104.1, and 93.3...

Although, after that story George told about Jerry last night....

There's been a ton of rumblings that they would jump to 105.3 and that was the reason 105.3 made the change. They have a huge signal, and the Cowboys have an out this year from the contract with the Ticket.

Here's my take on the event last night:

It was a good idea, but it was poorly executed. They were not very well prepared, and they thought that Cogill was going to lead them through the 2 hours. The problem with that is all he did was read the book and he was asking them questions about the book. Well... we were all holding the book in our hands! I wanted things that weren't in the book.

Ah well. I heard a lot of things I didn't know, many of them just because it was before my time (I don't think I really started listening until 2003). They were all very funny. 50% of the time was Gordo trying to shoot the wheels off, and the other 50% was all of them making gay jokes at each other. Worse than happens here.

Gordo dominated the conversation, as did Corby at times. Rhynes talked a lot early and then laid out. Bob and Dan never really got going. Norm had some good stuff. To see Norm talking with a bottle of Bud Light in his hand all night was funny.

The format was clearly uncomfortable for them. I know what Rich said this morning, but they all looked kind of uncomfortable to me. They weren't at their best, because they weren't doing what they do...which is sit at a table with headphones and microphones, rather than on stage with really bright lights and a bunch of drunk idiots hooting and hollering at them.

And of course there was a ton of Greggo talk.

And seriously...people were unruly last night. Everyone and their mother was drunk and trying to be funny by yelling out drops all night. It was obnoxious. When they let people come up to the microphones to ask questions...several of them were just wasted. The sweet clean P1 were definitely the dirty P1 last night.

Altogether it was a lot of fun, but I'm glad I didn't pay anything to go. I did buy a book, and I'm really looking forward to sitting down with it this weekend.

Why the hell would you show up to this event drunk?!
For some people everything in life is an excuse to drink I guess.
Why can't you just be cool! No one is going to be impressed by you yelling out It's a Fart Form!
Damn hayseeds!

The average P1 thinks he can be funny. That's why the two minute drill mostly sucked, and that's why voting on the ebrake mostly sucks...etc.

I believe it was $24.95. Hard cover...a couple hundred pages. I deemed it reasonably priced.

The paperback is 11.50 at Amazon. It's on pre-order right now, not sure when it goes on sale.

http://www.amazon.de/Ticket-Disclosu...2121085&sr=8-1

They even have it in our cute little German Amazon.de store. Only € 13.99 coming June 2nd !

And they will probably sell 1 copy. Or zero if I decide not to get it.

All I know is that while all this was going on the Ticket had some great drops and cluster F's that kept me in my garage listening. It was like a trainwreck.. Someone had plenty in the pipe...I enjoyed it .

You're the only person that I know that didn't absolutely love the event last night.

Norm announced to start the show today that Freido got an offer that he just couldn't refuse and has left the station.

As for the book...I have to admit that I have not finished it yet. I have been kind of kicking around to random chapters.

Perhaps a little disappointing, the chapter for each host contains many more "personal details" and "how they got here" stories than stuff about their time at the station and "behind the scenes" things. But there are certainly some good details. Donovans whole story was one I didn't know, and Norm has had an absolutely fascinating life. Gordo's chapter is filled with (predictably) far fewer personal details than anyone else's.

And the chapter on Greggo paints the whole picture of the "greggo saga" pretty well, and even though they did interview him for the book, a very large portion of the chapter is told from the point of view of Rhyner and Corby.

And Corby likes to swear.

It's a good read, nothing earth shattering.

As rumored, the Ticket is done carrying the Cowboys.

Catlin claims it was the Ticket's decision....whatever. I doubt that.

I have scoured the internets looking for evidence. Apparently George DID go through with the "sports fiddler" bit.

http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/story/1168803.html

Quote:
On Tuesday, a fiddler showed up with an "interrupter." The fiddle asked questions through an "interrupter." One of the fiddle’s questions was: Who is God’s favorite quarterback?
I assume the question was of Gordons own design.

Pardon me, but ticket talk always brings up the time that the Cowboys were playing a game in GreenBay, and they did a bit that wound up getting the police involved.

I believe Gordo or someone went undercover and snuck out onto the Green Bay field and started jumping on the "G" at midfield. Anyone have any audio links to that classic bit...or share any memories of the details of that bit?
