Spurs v. Lakers: Western Conference Finals
The Spurts against the Fakers, who do you guys have winning?
IMO, Finley's about to get his second ring.

I'm going to start a Lakers vs Celtics Finals thread.
I don't think the league will be denied at this point.

I've been wrong on every single series thus far and I wouldn't be shocked if I am wrong again but I think Spurs win this series 4-2. Just like the Hornets, I don't believe in the Lakers hype until they beat the champs. And I do believe in the Hornets now. They ended up being the real deal.

Not sure they can beat LA but it should make for some entertaining basketball for the Conference Finals.

This should be a great series. I am crazy to ever pick against the Spurs. They are one of the greatest teams ever. Shooting 39% and winning a game 7 and this is the great Spurs.
Odom is so huge in this next series. Gasol has to keep on doing what he is doing. Kobe is one of the greatest.
Parker must torch the Lakers pg and keep going inside. Tim Duncan is a question mark, is he slowing down now or will he come on but in the end Ginobili will have to have a huge series, Bowen must knock down Kobe over and over again. Odom must keep on getting er done and the Laker pg must be some kind of a factor. This is so close and a pick em but just because Duncan looks older, Odom has looked great and Gasol very solid, i am going with the younger Lakers in 7. I will also pick the west over Boston or Detroit.

There's a French newspaper that's reporting that the Spurs had to sleep on the plane last night, on the tarmac in New Orleans. Seems that the plane had some sort of mechanical problem, and all the hotels in NO were full. Hell of a way to start off a series.
I think the Spurs will take this in 7, but it's gonna be nip and tuck the whole way.

You know, I absolutely do not believe in NBA conspiracies, at all. However, the difference to the NBA between a Lakers/Celtics final and a Spurs/Pistons final is so, SO huge. I mean it can't even be put into words how huge a difference that is.
So for the first time ever I find myself thinking that the NBA will somehow make sure Lakers/Celtics happens. Or at the very least make sure Spurs/Pistons doesn't happen.

Spurs/Pistons would be impossible to watch. Just too boring.
I am guessing a LA/Bos final. The NBA doesn't care who wins that one.

Yeah, I'm thinking of setting an over/under for Lakers FTA per game at 50.
I feel sorry for the Spurs and Pistons the next 2 weeks (as much as anybody can feel sorry for the teams that have combined for 5 titles in the past 9 years).

What makes the Spurs and Pistons so boring to people? How do the Celtics and Lakers play anymore fancy than they do? I think you guys are referring to the Pistons and Spurs series that occurred some years ago but that was different perrsonnel and guys like Parker and Ginobilli weren't nearly as good then as they are now. That Pistons bench is very exciting to watch. Young and athletic.

yep
crazy thing, though, Detroit in the conference finals 6 years in a row. I think Stern just keeps teasing them as punishment for giving the league Front Office Isaiah Thomas.

Gasol can't defend Duncan
& Irie Odum is bound to choke
Spurs in 5, with an outside chance for a sweep

I heard Jason Terry on "The Herd" this morning talking about this series. Here are the highlights:
1) He admitted to absolutely hating the Spurs, but he believes they go to the championship series.
2) JET called the Spurs complainers and said that Timmy (while being a great basketball player) is top of the list.
3) He also called Bowen, Horry, and Manu cheap. He singled out Bowen as someone who you would never want to play against in a pick-up game because someone is going to get hurt; Horry solidified his reputation as a cheap shot artist when he hit Nash in last year's playffs; and Manu is the biggest flopper in the league. He then went on to say he respects the Spurs (go figure).
4) Kobe is the biggest trash-talker in the league, but he backs it up. JET also said Kobe will tied with MJ as the best ever in the league if he can win a championship without Shaq.

Once he gets a three-peat without Shaq, then we'll talk about putting him on the same level as Jordan...

Easier to call other guys cheap when you have NOT punched somebody in the nuts on national television.
Seriously, is it too much to ask that the Mavs players just stay off the radio for a while?

JET also said that he that the Mavs are looking for a couple of cheap players like these guys to help them win a championship. Cowherd really encouraged the candor and was clearly happy that JET came through for him. After the interview Cowherd called JET "a very funny guy who is also very honest".

Candor is fine, but I still think a few of those statements leave him completely open to pot/kettle rebuttals.

Bowen out with a broken foot, Kobe out with a rolled ankle, Underdog cackling with a twisted smile on his face...

I'm sure he does respect the Spurs lol. Thet punch to the balls on Finley was something out of Bowen's book.

Would MJ have his championships without the supporting cast of Pippen, Kukoc and Rodman? MJ played with some damn good players. Would you rather have played with Fisher, Shaq and Horry or Rodman, Pippen and Kukoc?
