GDT: Mavs vs Spurs
Its been a while since I started one. I see a lot of people are down on the team. But I think.we can get it together and make a little run. So let today be the day the Mavs get a tough win and things start to turn for the better.
Lets go all out.........GOOOOO MAVS
My prediction: Mavs 106 Spurs 101

Just another blowout loss. Maybe the Mavs can hold them to under 15 made 3s this time.

And more upside-down stuff from DB.com's Luke Kammrath, who pulls out the Big Calculator to reveal this:
The record that the Mavs will need to have in their last 52 games to likely make the playoffs is 32-20.
That creates a winning percentage of 0.615 in those 52 ... in order to get to 44-38 ... and achieve a winning percentage of 0.537. In only two years since 2002 have teams made the playoffs in the Western Conference with a winning percentage less than 0.537.
In that time the worst winning percentage while making the playoffs in the West was 0.512 (42-40). The Mavs would have to go 30-22 (0.577) to do that.
Up to this point the Mavs have played 12-18 basketball (winning percentage of 0.400).
Turning that around would be quite an accomplishment ... and at this moment, it seems, quite unlikely. Conclusion: For the first time in the Cuban Era, as Feb. 21 approaches, the Mavs are becoming increasingly likely to be trade-deadline sellers.

Idk....I am not saying the Mavs will win it all. But I do think we have enough to make the playoffs. IF Dirk can start playing like a star again...I dont see why we couldnt make a run for the last few spots. Other teams will have rough stretches as well..soo the Mavs just have to take advantage.

OK, let's take a look.
"The record that the Mavs will need to have in their last 52 games to likely make the playoffs is 32-20."
we play:
3xSAS
3xMEM
1xMIA
2xDEN
2xOKC
2xLAC
2xLAL
3xHOU
2xGSW
2xUTAH
2xMIN
1xCHI
...I smell 20 L here already.
But like i said in an other thread. It is kind of cool being in panic mode so early. Makes the reg. season that much more interesting and exciting. Almost like a playoff series.

I think we can get 7-10 of those games if Dirk starts plying well. I mean we just saw Miami lose to the Bucks by 20... and Housten lose to OKC by 30... OKC barely gor one from ua. So I just think things can chamge if we settlw down and start playin well. I see no reason at this point why we couldnt make the playoffs. That may change 10-15 games.from now...but as of now I think we can be in. GOOOO MAVS

Yeah I mean Portland will come down to earth sooner or later and I'd say Wolves and Jazz are likely to miss the playoffs as well. Wolves simply not good enough in a competitive West and Utah will trade Jefferson, Millsap or both and concentrate on rebuilding at the trade deadline. If the Lakers figure it out, they'll be a lock for the 5/6th seed
Leaves us to compete with Denver and Houston for the 8th seed and that's going to be tough. Not sure about Denver, but Houston will try to improve on the deadline.

The Mavs will be lucky to score in this game. 14-2 with a safety at end.

Shaggy, you are giving the Spurs offense too much credit for allowing the safety.

Actually Calderon is an expiring. Cuban could pay him this summer instead of giving up something to get him now.

I hope that Kaman gets in the post more and THEN takes a jumpshot here and there, not vice versa...

God.... wide open threes. Mavs have no interest in covering someone.

according to NBA.com Carter is +36 in 6 minutes. If we play him 48, we may just win.

So it's okay for Duncan to look at the officials wave his arms and scream for a foul call now?
