Default tank a cowboy

Tank Johnson said Monday night he expects to play for the Dallas Cowboys upon returning from his eight-game NFL suspension.

Tank Johnson, shown leaving NFL headquarters in May, is suspended for the first eight games of this season.

"I'm here to work some things out. I'm looking here for a fresh start," Johnson said when reached in his room at the hotel where the Cowboys stay before home games.

Earlier on Monday, a high-ranking team source said there have been lengthy discussions among members of the team's coaching staff and owner Jerry Jones about Johnson's off-field problems and his playing ability.

The Cowboys or any team would be able to sign Johnson during his suspension but he cannot work out or have contact with a team until he serves his suspension in its entirety.

Although Johnson has never played nose tackle, Phillips has extolled the flexibility of his 3-4 defensive scheme to accommodate players of different sizes and styles. The Cowboys lost starter Jason Ferguson for the season when the nose tackle suffered a torn right biceps tendon in Dallas' season-opening win against the Giants.

Johnson was waived by the Chicago Bears on June 25, three days after he was stopped by police in Arizona driving 40 mph in a 25-mph zone. Johnson was not charged with any crime. He was suspended by the league for violating probation on a gun charge that stemmed from a raid on his home. Johnson served a two-month jail term in the spring.

so he's never played the nose tackle position
i wonder how he is going to do
ratliff played well, but that's because miami stopped using ronnie brown for some reason
however, he did recover a fumble

AYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! Love the move. I was for sure the Cowboys were gonna let some other team scoop him up. Why has no team taken a chance on him? Clearly teams are interested. It would seem to make more sense to get him on your team as fast as possible so he can learn the defense.

Defensive lineman Tank Johnson, who cannot play until midseason because of an eight-game NFL suspension, reached a two-year agreement with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday.

Terms of the deal were not available. The agreement was reached 10 minutes before a deadline imposed by the Cowboys.

The former Chicago Bear visited team officials Monday night and hoped to have a deal in place by Tuesday afternoon. Although it is unclear what he can do between now and when he is reinstated by the league, the former Chicago Bear at least has a future employer.

"For a lot of reasons, he really just felt the Cowboys were the right fit," Johnson's agent, Jerrold Colton, told The Associated Press. "He's so thankful to them for giving him this opportunity. He is very determined to prove they made a wise decision in believing in him."

Johnson's suspension resulted form a probation violation on a gun charge that included a two-month prison term that he served in the spring.

Then, in June, Johnson was stopped by Gilbert, Ariz., police for speeding. His blood alcohol level was found to be .072, under the presumptive limit for DUI in Arizona, and Johnson was not charged. Still, the fact that he was out late at night and had been drinking might discourage commissioner Roger Goodell from reducing the suspension.

Once the Bears learned of the Arizona incident, Johnson was immediately released.

Johnson will have a half-season to learn the Cowboys' nose tackle position, as starter Jason Ferguson suffered a season-ending biceps injury in Dallas' season-opening win over the Giants.

LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A DONE DEAL, MAYBE HE CAN BRING SOME SPARK AND SOME SIZE IN GAME 9

LETS DO THIS!

You can't be too sure about how well Ratliff will do...

well your right he didn't play nose tackle.but he switched around alot on the 4-3 D in chicago so that makes him great...

why is everyone so worried about bringing in tank, we brought in TO who was much more volatile and a bigger detriment to the team, so why should we worry about what tank could do?

if he starts causin problems, cut him..that will set a standard to...
