Nationally televised game and Michael Jordan. It's going to be tough for the Mavs today. I expect a hard game and I hope the Mavs squeak out a win.

The Mavs are big-time now. If they're still getting butterflies from having their games televised on national TV, then they've got a serious problem. At this point in the season, a game on NBC should mean nothing to them. Come playoff time, all their games will be on national TV.

Jordan looked awesome in his last game...he can still bring it. And Courtney Alexander has been hot and would love nothing more than to go off on his former team. I am more nervous about this game than any in the past couple weeks. The Mavs have incentive of course...they are a game up on the Spurs. I look for a hard fought close game also.

Mavs- 101
Wizards- 96

Should we expect other ex-Mavs, say, one Christian Laettner, to have a big game, too?

At this point in his career, Jordan is no better than Pierce. And the Wizards are as good as the Celtics. There is no excuse for the Mavs not dominating this game.

Bad news: Dirk off to the locker room. Came down awkardly on an ankle.
Good news: Wang had two consecutive layup buckets.

22-22 after one. Dirk's shooting well, Griff's taking surpringly many shots, and Fin's only 0-1 so far.

And on the next play he dives on the floor, saves the ball, resulting in a Finley dunk!!

And MJ seems to be doing a good job on Fin. I wonder whether that's why Griff's getting so many touches.

Washington obviously identified him as the offensive weak point and decided they'd focus on our four 'scorers' and not worry about him so much. Griffen made them pay.

Good. Commentators are critiquing Nash for taking his mismatch over the one Dirk had.

NVE's doing a very good job, shooting as well as passing. Nash's starting out slow today.

Dirk's getting killed by the refs. First a hustle save turned into a jump ball, and now a T?!?

Couple of questionable decisions by Dallas. But also, yes, Crawford doesn't seem to like Dirk.

47-45 Dallas at the half. Pretty ugly game so far. We're shooting better, defending pretty well, doing a decent job on the boards, but only lead by a bucket. The difference seems to be the Wizards haven't missed a free throw yet.

I notice that this crew does not seem to show replays of questionable calls by the refs. I would have liked to see WHY Dirk thought there should have been a foul and WHY Nash thought Hamiliton violated the jump circle.

What is up with Nash's shot? He is a better shooter than this. He needs to be more aggressive.

I don't know that the refs are doing a bad job - they are not showing replays of questionable calls. Very frustrating.

The ref admitted the tech was a mistake. I've never heard that.

MFFL- the commentators just showed the replay. The ref said he made a mistake...WOW! I've never heard a ref say that to a coach like that. Crawford thought Dirk was "busting his chops". Don't like the call, but I have a little bit of respect for the ref saying he screwed up. That is refreshing.

What did Crawford (the ref) say he thought Dirk was saying? "Blew"?

For those of you who didn't see it: Dirk was going after a loos ball, lost it out of bounds, and the ref whistled it Wizards ball. Then Dirk turned to the ref and kept saying something while tucking his own shirt. And somehow the T dropped.

The ref was saying it was Wizard ball--but he misspoke and was saying "Blue" even while he pointed White's direction. Dirk was questioning who the call was for and tugging on his shirt to show, "we are blue".

Crawford said "off Blue" but pointed the direction of white. Dirk misunderstood. He was asking Blue? Blue? Dirk didn't understand what Crawford was saying and Crawford thought he was busting his chops, so the T got called. I am surprised it doesn't happen more foften with all of our foreign players.
