Kobe just cut their deficit to 1 point with 22 seconds left, then Orlando turns it over with an offensive foul. You've got to be kidding me.

wow, what an end to that game.
"The Machine" misses the 3 and Howard rebounds with 3 seconds left and gets fouled. He makes BOTH. Dwight Howard makes both free throws. Is that the first time in his career?
Then, I think, Kobe misses the 3 to send them into overtime. That means he he choked, right? Right?

so I have a question for everyone, if Mavericks stay the same till 2010 and don't really do anything in the playoffs, do you think Dirk could think about going to the knicks, because along with the names they mention for the Knicks to get in 2010 Dirk is one the the ones I always read. Could you see him ending up a Knick if things don't go well? I don't see him going to the Knicks but just wondering what you all think because your more of his fans then me, so you would know

I think most of us would agree that the Larry Bird Celtics >>>> KG/Pierce Celtics.. yet they are winning in a way that Bird's group never did.
Has the rest of the league gotten that much worse or are these current Celtics overachieving?

Rest of the league is that much worse. Too many teams, too much parity.
Also, Showtime Lakers were around about that time.

Having one other great team wouldn't be the main reason preventing them from making a 20+game winning streak unless they played the Lakers 2 times in those 20 games.
You're probably right about the rest of the league, though IDK.. they have played some decent-to-good teams during this streak.

The league is just as good as it ever was if not better. There are more teams but the talent pool has expanded thanks to the international popularity of the game. There were no Dirk Nowitzki's in the 80's.

Which is why I find it strange that this new Celtics team can put together winning streaks that Bird's Celtics could not.

I like a league with parity. Sure, only 6 or 7 teams have won the NBA title since like 1980, but every night there seems to be at least one upset. I really appreciate the unpredictability of games in that regard.

Seee this is your problem, why cant you just consider the possibility that these Celtics are just that good

These Celtics might be better than Larry's Celtics. I think people simply get romantic about players and teams in the past. Sure, there will never be another Larry Bird, but on the other hand it will be very rare to get this kind of defensive talent on a team, all focused and motivated, with an excellent defensive coach. These Celtics might be that good.
One reason why they are putting these streaks is probably the weakness of the East compared to the 80s. Back then the power of the NBA really was in the Eastern Conference, with only the Lakers being a true contender out West. Playing much more of the East meant a more difficult schedule.
As for the Nets today, I don't know how I feel. Most likely pissed off that Houston has such a great defense whereas the Mavs have completely regressed compared to where they were 2 years ago. It shows the Rox are probably much better than us right now despite the narrow margin in the standings.

Correct sir. I do not want to see Rafer Alston starting for the Rockets. Our offense has been in a good flow with AB running the point. Alston is better coming in with the second unit. Still, this has been an easy stretch for the Rockets. Let's see what we can do when we play the Cavs, Hornets, and Jazz all in five days.

They'll probbaly beat the Nuggets in the rematch tommorow night.
It sure would be a nice Christmas present if the Mavs can go into the Rose Garden and come out with a victory... on TNT too... so we don't have to hear Web and Barkley's anti-Mavs drivel.

The Rockets are not a "great" team.
Anyway, Houston lost tonight and Utah is down by 19 to the bucks. Great for the Mavs.

Out of anyone in the playoffs I would want to face the Rockets the most in the first round.
Then there's the suns but i don't see that happening.

We're actually 7th I believe since have the tie breaker with Phoenix.
Six of one half a dozen of the other.. A SA win puts more distance between us and PHX, and a PHX win brings us closer to SA. Considering both teams have +.500 win percentages, the loss for one means more than a win for the other.. so it's a win-win for us.

Intense game Sa wins with a three from Roger Mason. I wouldn't mind having Jason Richardson and Roger Mason on our roster. Now I can't wait for the Celtics and Lakers

That was a very exciting game to watch, but I didn't like the result.

When the Mavs were busy overpaying Diop with the 5.9 million exception Roger Mason was busy being signed for half of that.

Gasol was impressive down the stretch. Lakers stop the Celtics streak at 19.
