can't name a time when he attempted to conform to normal behavior. But he defenitely brings about more activity to the board, he is alot like a loss, or a trade rumor. So this catalyst is a problem, it makes it interesting. I have already made my Lector comparison, short of him producing pic's of boys with sheeps, what serious harm can he bring? This is not classified documents

He offends people and drive away quality posters. Just because you or I weren't driven away by his gutter language doesn't mean many others weren't. This board was set up not for Uber Dirk, but to be an open forum to all while operating under standards for common curtesy and decensy. Uber Dirk refused on numerous occasions to abide by those standards. So either we change the standards or we ban Uber Dirk. You don't have to be a mass murder, child pornographer, or any heinious criminal to be in violation. Just violated the written standards. Again we are all free to start our own boards with different standards. This one has its standards, and the mods are upholding those standards.

So the harm he can bring is to destroy this board. This board would become something other than what DJ envisioned when he created it. It would become something other than what it is. And it would become something that many posters don't want it to become. We would in essence support anarchy and have no laws. At least that pertain to this board.

What harm does it do to leave UD banned? Will it kill anyone? Force anyone into slavery? Will it abuse any children? Your argument works both ways in some aspects.

Remember being banned was a concious decision that Uber Dirk made. He choose to break the rules. No one forced him to. This is his doing, not the mods.

Geez, Uber, this is a private message board. You don't have a 'right' to be here. If DJ doesn't want you here, that's his choice; not yours! So stop whining.

I give up. Obviously I like this board or I would not spend so much time here, if its to hard to boot the guy, then I guess I lose a great form of entertainment. The dude reminds me of someone's alter ego if he is real then its even that much more funny. U could not find someone like that even at a county fair.

Brian: I've known lots in real life. Even related to one. Yes they are entertaining, but they also hurt people too. That doesn't mean that you aren't fond of them or don't like them. Just don't like the hurting people part.

I am here with you Brian. I have been on this site since last year and I have dealt with D77 even on Mavtalk. But I don't understand how can you let a guy like D77 drive you off of the board? Sure he has shown frustration on the Game Thread. But in your rules it says that you are to be banned for a week correct? If thats true than shouldn't he be unbanned? The time I have experienced with D77 I see someone who is a huge Dirk fan. How do you bann a guy like that? A Dirk fan? I'm not disagreeing with your decision but if he has gone through all this trouble to get back on this site why not give him a chance? Other than cursing I have not seen him do anything to be banned. I have never seen a post were he says "Trade Fin". Never have I seen him say "Griff should be fired". Though I have seen him say Nellie is a fat pig lol.

Sorry to keep bringing this post up but if it isn't out of the question how about we make a thread called "Should Ubie be back to post". I understand that you guys are the mods and this is DJ's board but would it be out of line or wrong to make a poll asking should ubie be back? If not like I will continue to post here and I will agree with you guys decisions.

Maybe instead of a "bring back uber" thread, the Mods could put up a multiple-identity identification thread. I think it would be interesting to know about all of the different names that D77-Uber, RCF-SuperSloMo, and others have used in the past. With all of the banned folks' constant attempts to sneak back in, there would be a lot of room for interesting updates on such a thread.

Evil: Good point. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of RCF, Uber Dirk, or some of the other banned members. What's interesting is most of the time that they get caught it appears to be because they are exhibiting the same behavior that got them banned in the 1st place.

This is actually a very forgiving board. When RCF got banned the first time he was the most hated person in the history of d-m.com. I decided to join the board under an alias that was similar to RCF's AND I used the same American Flag icon. I made sure that no other poster on the board knew what was going on and the only mod who knew was dj. I was trying an experiment to see whether talking strictly basketball could >restore< the reputation of the worst poster EVER.

It worked. Everyone seemed to think that RCF had straightened up his act and I got along with everyone (even the people who hated RCF). After a couple of weeks I got bored with the experiment and had dj lock the account. But the results were clear - the posters here treat the trolls like trolls and the solid posters like everyone else. If uberdirk was interested in changing then he would never get banned again.
