I think that's FreshJive's point, although he may correct me if I'm wrong. Cuban and Nellie hated each other's guts by the end (they probably still do,) but I seriously doubt Cuban would ever let that stop him from acquiring a star.

Well I still don't get his point then because I'm not the one "reporting" they wouldn't do it because the owner didn't want to deal with Morey. CBSSports and possibly others are. So he would need to take it up with them I'm just the messenger.

The Nets have now acquired all three types of Brooklyn guy; a weirdly skinny guy, a guy with a huge beard, and a guy who’s obsessed with astrology and conspiracy theories.

Significant discussion on league's call with general managers today about expanding rosters by allowing a third two-way contract slot this season, sources tell ESPN. That'll have to be worked out with NBPA, but there's momentum toward it.

I wanna know how OKC turned Roby into an NBA player. That def makes the Mavs look bad, and you can only use the "they don't get minutes" excuse so many times.

Because they have A guy, singular, in charge and he’s good at what he does. We have 3 guys who I’m imagining all have something closer to an equal voice, for better or worse. At least we have WCS still to show for it.

But like I said before, they could’ve just ditched Bro because essentially what they wanted was a roster spot and cut him for Burke later anyhow. Unless I’m missing something one of the options was cut Bro and keep Roby, which in retrospect was maybe not the better decision. I mean, they thought enough of Roby to sign him to a 4yr deal a few months earlier. Either his stock really plummeted in the interim or Cuban was keen on the cash considerations included

That Presti wanted Roby and his 4yr deal should’ve been a clue that they were choosing the wrong option. Oh well.

They are playing him at center, because they don’t have anyone else. Are the Mavs in the market for a 6’8” center, or are they pretty well covered in that area?

His rebounding percentage is also lower than even Powell.

I definitely think he could play at the 4 and the Mavs need to upgrade the 4 to play KP at center. That's why they are forced to overexpose WCS and Powell.

That's not really the point though. The point is that Roby is an NBA player and not a terrible one at that.

Are you suggesting that Roby is an upgrade to Maxi? DFS? He’s played 13 nba games. Whose roster spot does he take?

I don’t think he’s suggesting that. He’s simply saying Roby looks like an NBA player. Maybe he was worth more as an asset than a giveaway.

sunsetting?
once the athleticism is gone...
Blake Griffin has not recorded a single dunk all season.
He is currently averaging career lows in points (12.9ppg), rebounds (5.9 rpg) and FG% (38.8%).
AND has a player option for $39 million next season.

Mavs fans wanted him here. I seem to recall Dallas41 saying we should trade for him.

I haven’t watched him play at all this season, but damn. Not a single dunk? Crazy.

Wizards are 2-2 when Westbrook sits and 1-8 when he plays. Maybe Cuban was right?

MVP at this point in the season?
Nikola Jokic*is filling up the stat sheet in basically every category this year.
NBA ranks this season:*2nd in Points, 3rd in Assists, 4th in Rebounds, T-2nd in Steals, 6th in Minutes, 1st in PER, Win Shares, BPM, VORP.
He is 12th in the league in defensive win shares, and 7th in defensive box plus/minus.
(Also T-1st in Turnovers)

Luka Doncic in January:
28.3 pts (47.5 FG%, 33 3P%), 10.1 reb, 10.3 ast, 6 triple doubles

For me the top three MVPs are Embiid, Jokic and Lebron. Luka unfortunately isn't in the conversation because the Mavs suck right now.

Update- Embiid and Lebron have pulled so far ahead of the pack that at this point I'll be shocked if one of them isn't MVP. Embiid might be the best player in the league this year. And even though his numbers aren't quite as gawdy as they've been in years past, Lebron is actually having one of the best seasons of his career- he has repeatedly put the team on his back and come up huge with crunch-time heroics. Last year there was a bit of chatter about whether or not AD was the real MVP of the Lakers.... that talk has pretty much been put to rest. Lebron is still the Lakers' (and the NBA's) alpha dog, even at 36 years old.

If I had to pick right now, I'd pick Embiid for statistical brilliance alone, but just barely.

Lebron is still the Lakers' (and the NBA's) alpha dog, even at 36 years old.
I dunno if anyone is watching Lakers/Grizzlies right now, but Lebron is doing it again. The Lakers were down by as much as 20 earlier, but they clawed back in, and Lebron has hit about 5 ridiculous shots in a row, and the Grizzlies just look demoralized.

Rose to Knicks for draft picks and DSJ as ballast.

Rumor is that DSJ will be waived as he's on his last year and is not fully guaranteed. Is this the end of DSJ's NBA career?

Crazy how much he fell off a cliff after leaving Dallas. Hope he is able to catch on a team and keep playing.

Sadly I think DSJ's career is over. At least in the NBA. He can always play overseas, and he probably should. It's sad, and frankly inexplicable. The guy clearly has the talent not just to be in the NBA, but to be a far better than average player. But something is clearly going on with him mentally. I hope he figures it out and gets it together.

I think Casey can help him.

He's done a terrific job with D.Wright this year making him a decent starting PG.

I think if Casey can Smith playing down hill again and attacking the basket also getting out in transition he'll have a chance to actually stick in Detroit.

Jokic is still amazing but he has Luka's problem. 27-11-9 is great but they aren't winning

Over the Laker's last 15 games, they've shot 29.9% from three...
good for dead last in the league. Over that same stretch, they're 22nd in offensive rating and 29th in turnovers. Despite the many offensive upgrades, they've really struggled getting the pieces to fit.
And after Lebron's hot start from deep, he's 9 of his last 46. Even with a healthy AD and DS, their offense has been hard to watch.
