Default Last Of A Dying Breed

After this season or next year, we can possibly see Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Steve Nash, Manu Ginobili all retire, I grew up watching these guys play basketball for years, all 7 of those guys are future Hall Of Famers without a doubt, It will be a sad day, not just in the NBA, but in sports in general to see those guys go to their post NBA lives, but it was bound to happen at some point. Just want to appreciate those guys for a great and exciting NBA career, and for leaving their blood, sweat, tears, and joy out there on the court. Much respect.

It will be sad, but the only two guy who will actually retire is Nash-- who basically already has.

re: Nash - Glad he played for our Mavs -
Nash - had 4 of the 10 all-time 50-40-90 seasons — shooting percentage in field goals, three-pointers, free throws — that have ever been done.
He missed three more 50-40-90s — once by a single free throw; once by seven shots and one three-pointer at age 36.

If you average his entire regular season career from 2001-2002 through 2010-2011 he averaged 16.7/10/3.3 on 49.7/43.6/91.0 just insane percentages for a decade. If you take 2001-2002 out the percentages go to 49.9/43.4/91.3 for a 9 year stretch. If you make it 2005-2011 you get 16.7/11.0/3.5 on 50.8/44.0/91.3 for a 7 year stretch. And if you use the 8 year stretch of his second run in Phoenix you get 16.3/10.9/3.4 on 51/44/91.

And Phoenix nash avged 20/11/4 on 50/39/91 in the playoffs for a total of 67 games which is basically another season. Also it hurts the overall numbers because it includes the first 2 bad years but if you use his 10 years in Phoenix rather than the 3 he was in Dallas, his career avges in phoenix are over 50/40/90 for a decade. He has a legit argument as the best offensive pg of all time.

Nash is the reason I became a Mavs fan back in early 2003, not a good defender, but on offense, he was historic, I remember the debate from 2005-2010, do you let Nash get over 7 assist, and keep him under 20 points or do you let Nash go for 30 points, but don't allow him to be a playmaker. Nash is a very funny guy, high basketball I.Q. great career, he made the All Star teams, won MVP's, made first NBA teams, all he really didnt accomplish was a championship and defensive player of the year(Even tho I never expected him to ever win defensive player of the year. Lol).
