@wojespn: Elfrid Payton has agreed to a deal with the Pelicans, league sources tell ESPN.

They need to do away with conferences and take the top 16... The East are gonna get swept in the Finals for the next 5+ years.

Wow. And the Lakers aren’t done. Crazy to think they can still add really effective pieces around LeBron.

Magic pulled it off. Wow.
Hate it for Cleveland sports fans. They've been through a lot. But the Cavs are a horrible organization. They drafted Lebron James....had him for 11 seasons...and got one ring out of it. Lebron went to the Heat for 4 years and got 2 rings. That's sad.
Heard a rumor the Raptors are being released from group therapy and pronounced cured.
Gonna be fun to bust Lebron haters for changing course now to suddenly counting it when a team loses before the Finals. That used to not count in an attempt to exclude MJ's 1st round losses with the Bulls.

Not hating that the Spurs are having problems since Duncan retired. Always thought their rep was built entirely on their insane lottery luck. The Mavs could have done what they did too. Putting Parker and Ginobli around Duncan isn't hard. The Mavs could have put Dirk and Nash/Kidd around Duncan and dominated just as much.

This definitely marks a new low for the Eastern conference.
Watch the Cavs still make the playoffs cuz of how pathetic that conference is.

The second year of the deal is a player option, league sources said.

They said they wouldn't even entertain in the past.....but the best player in the West just moved conferences.....and you are risking the East playoffs to not even be watchable past Bucks, Sixers and Celtics.
They have to reformat and do it as soon as possible.

Its been more than that though. They have done relatively well in the draft and have had success in free agency as well. They got lucky getting Duncan.....but they did what other teams couldn't do. Sixers had to keep tanking and sit their young players so they could tank. Spurs never "tanked". They drafted well with what they had which is tough when you have a star who's going to guarantee you a playoff spot. So you have to hit on late round picks and value them and they've done that. Let's not forget how they even got Kwahi. They traded him for George Hill which no one even really though twice about because Leonard was so raw but he turned into one of the best players in the league.

To be fair all of us are more likely to ignite a blunt than a pro ball career.

Chris Haynes: Free agent Jose Calderon agrees to a one-year, $2.4 million deal with Detroit, league sources tell ESPN.
Shams Charania: Sources: Tolliver’s one-year deal will be in $5-to-$6M range to sign with Minnesota.
Point guard Rajon Rondo has agreed to a one-year, $9 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Lebron, Lavar, Rondo, and possibly Boogie on the same team. This should be fun to watch from a distance.

I think tonight the Lakers stretch or trade Deng (trade with Kuzma) and Cousins signs there on a short contract. Then they trade Ingram and Ball for Kawhi
Rondo
KCP
Kawhi
Lebron
Cousins
Lance/Kuzma/McGee

Highly doubt Popovich wants anything to do with Lonzo. I think Lebron told Magic not to mortgage the farm for this year. Players will come. I think Ingram is going to be special. I'd have a hard time trading him unless it's for a star which Kawai is obviously.

We should absolutely offer Wes for Kuzma/ Deng. It’s the only way the Lakers don’t waste $7.2 million in precious cap space by stretching Deng. Wes also fits in well there and is expiring.
Edit: NVM, Lakers wouldn’t even give him up for Kawhi. Anyone interested in Hart & Deng for Wes? I stare hard at that deal.

LeBron: I'd like a PG. Preferably a vet. Must suck at shooting like Kyrie, but must take very few shots, because I don't want anyone messing with my FGA. Mental health/stability unimportant.
Lakers: Rondo it is!

Randle: 2/18 with New Orleans. Wonder how he works with Davis. His game is like a smaller version of Davis.

For 5.3 mill
Houston going to be super happy paying Chris Paul 40mill while he's injured.

Cousins
Green
Durant
Thompson
Curry
Honestly, Green is now the weakest link. Maybe they can flip him for LeBron

This is all KD's undoing... Boogie situation is unique, because it makes tons of sense for him, but still. Market is dry (he pretty much could only resign in NOLA), cap's projected to go up significantly so a lot of guys are settling for those 1-yr deals hoping for a bigger paycheck next year. But even if, this is exactly what the league has been asking for.
I fully expect more superstar / allstar type players just joining established superteams whenever possible. Boggie is basically buying himself into a title in a transition year. This is just stupid...
