Mullens, re-sign Wright and Brand.

Sarge, Dirk, Mullens, Wright, and Brand. Big man rotation would be set.

Dalembert over other remaining options.
Dalembert, Wright and maybe Brand sounds about right

At least Dalembert can rebound and block shots.

Daly and Brand are the top two known and realistic options by a pretty wide margin, as far as my mental search of names can tell.

I wrote it in Bynum topic that i think we should trade Marion for a center especially if the coaching staff thinks that Crowder can step up this year. Carter minutes should also see increased time at the SF.

I don't know how many bobcats games you've seen recently, but Diop and Mullens are absolutely atrocious

Had Mullens on my fantasy team reason why I know about him. Averaged 10 points and 6 boards from all the 41 games he started. Had 8 double doubles in the season. Climbed more each year. As for Dalembert.. he started 23 games being pushed aside with 6 points and 6 points.

How many games did you watch?

Diop is constantly the last person down the floor, and constantly out of position. Mullens shoots contested 3s early in the clock for no reason. Terrible numbers for the worst team in the league does not move the needle for me.

Just because it's at least somewhat relevant to how things proceed, worth noting that assuming all three rooks make the team, Brandan re-signs, and neither Akognon or James gets cut, by my count the Mavs are at 13 players.

Correct - 2 spots left. Both really gotta go towards big men.

Roughly:

PG. Calderon | Mekel | Larkin | Akognon + [Harris]
SG. Harris| Ellington | Ledo + [Carter, Crowder]
SF. Marion | Carter | Crowder
PF. Nowitzki | Wright + [Marion]
C. X | James | X + [Wright]

Dalembert is certainly the best candidate left, but that's not gonna get it done if the Mavs want to actually make the playoffs and have any chance of first-round upset.

You honestly don't think we'll make the playoffs with our current squad? With Kaman out half the season, we were as deep as we are on paper now and even then we were about a game out of the playoffs and that was with Dirk out half the season.

I can see not being optimistic about beating OKC or SAS, but saying that this team doesn't make the playoffs is ludicrous. Dirk playing alongside four stiffs would MAKE the playoffs.

Wow. Our entire backcourt is Calderon, Devin Harris, Gal Mekel, Shane Larkin, Ricky Ledo, Josh Akognon, and Wayne Ellington. Our only center is a 29 year-old second rounder from last year that's incredibly wet behind the ears. Dirk, Marion, and Carter are a combined 106 years old. This team would be lucky to compete for the 7 or 8 seed.

Wow, why don't you start following the Rockets. You are so goddamned negative about every single thing. Just quit your whining or choose a new team.

I certainly think it's possible, but I peg them as a 9 or 10 seed more likely.

I don't want to act like I know what's gonna happen, though. Maybe they mesh well and outperform my expectations.

Our problem isn't necessarily that our team is gonna be that weak, the main problem is that this is the arguably best West ever. I wouldn't be surprised if there is 7-8 team with 50 wins again. Also, teams that are definitely gonna be better than us: OKC, Spurs, Clippers, Grizzlies, Rockets, Warriors.

So the best case scenario imo is 7th place, but you could argue that the Nuggets with a healthy Gallo is gonna be a better team than ours even without Igoudala, and the same could be said about the Wolves. I fully expect the Wolves to win around 50 games. It's gonna be tough, very tough.

With a healthy Dirk last year and Mike James running point we:

1. Held our own against SA, they won by only a point.
2. Beat the Clippers
3. Beat the Warriors
4. Beat the Rockets

On the other hand...

1. We have no answer for Kevin Durant
2. We can't seem to get around Memphis' defense.

IMHO, I could see us sneaking up to 6th. While the Howard pick up in Houston certainly looks good on paper, they had to give up some depth and it's yet to be seen how Howard will play next to Harden (of course with Asik as a back up, they might have the strongest depth at C in the league).

Hopefully we don't strike out on Dalembert. But I would take a serious look at Diop as an insurance policy. Plus it would be cool to pull out some old school videos to throw on the jumbotron with Diop Dirk and Devin Harris

There is no way James gets cut. Akognon is a goner. No need to have 5 point guards.... unless you have no centers.

SH#T... looks like akognon is staying.

I'm confident that Dirk will have a bit of a bounce back year..and Dirk at crunch time can bring home alot of games. However, what's this team's goal at this point?

Mullens shot horribly the ball, he 's basically a 7 footer Monta Ellis.

Impossible without dumping Marion.

Not a center IMO. Can play the PF backup.

Just start Sarge at this point and bring Brand and Wright back. Gonna have to game plan around the stronger teams killing us inside. Should've drafted a big...

Per discussions on the roster, it seems fairly logical to assume Akognon won't be brought back. The Mavs already have two project PG's, hard to imagine they'd carry a third.

If his contract doesn't have a guarantee deadline until the league mandated one in Jan then I could see scenarios where he's kept around, but I wouldn't ever view his spot as "filled". Have to assume the Mavs would dump him in a heartbeat if they need the spot.

Dalembert is a must have now. Cheapest as possible and just one year guaranteed so you maybe can switch him at the trade deadline. Bring Brand back too.

Hell no to Mullens. Terrible moronic chucker. Antoine Walker style.

Maybe trying to trade for Haywood with the Bobcats.

I think i would invite Oden to test him. If he looks good sign him cheap and tease him with big minutes if he is healthy...

The Mavs can't re-acquire Haywood until his current contract is over.
