SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)

SG Michael Finley (18.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 72 games)
PF Antoine Walker (14.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 4.5 apg in 82 games)
Change in team outlook: +2.1 ppg, +2.8 rpg, and +8.7 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Dallas gets a superstar. Loses 2 players they don't want to. Creates time for daniels. Still have several pieces to get, but are a younger, scarier team.
daniels
mcgrady
jamison
dirk
Tag? Maybe a good defensive center would desire to play for the mavs.
Orlando gets to keep #1 pick and trades Mcgrady(will not be able to keep him happy anyhow). They get 3 good to great players and still gets to pick their center in the draft. Could be a very nice team. Will win at least 40 games.
nash
finley
gooden
walker
okafor?

I know Hill is a big hickey, but he was trying to come back near the end of the season and I believe he didn't because of insurance reasons. If he played in a certain number of games the insurance wouldn't pay the magic.
So what if you are losing a 30 yr old + point guard, you are getting tracy freakin' mcgrady.

Age hasn't had much of an effect on Steve Nash as it has had on players like Finley. He's healthy and I'd have no problems keeping him around for at least another few years.

No way I would do it with Nellie still here. You would be taking 2 steps backwards. Now with a different coach, maybe. But no way with Nellie still in the drivers seat. Takes too long to train a new point.

Superstars win titles, kareem and magic, kobe and shaq, jordan and pippen. It maybe a steep price for Mcgrady but hes only 25 he ghets to the hoop on a regular basis more then walker. finley and nash combined. Their are still BYC concerns with this trade with nash involved.

Could McGrady handle playing second fiddle to Dirk? That is what would need to happen. Dirk would need to have the ball given him to help develop his low post game and by that time, he would be the more versatile and deadly offensive player of the two. How would McGrady like that?

RE:mavs/magic trade: lose 2 of big 3
I know everybody thinks dirk is the man, but I have not seen this. He is no Shaq, Duncan, or Garnett. He is a very, very, good player, but not an elite player. It is very possible that tmac is an elite player. Dirk might be but I have not seen it with any consistantsy as of yet.
I would love to put tmac, dirk, and daniels on the floor and see what happens? Certainly, we would need some excellent defensive players around them, but that is nothing new. I think Howard and Najera would help out, plus whatever else we could pick up.
It seems to me, that if I were a defensive, rebounding center, this is where I would DESIRE to play.
Dallas would be young and very, very talented. That is something to build on. I just believe the mavs should look at the future now.
As far as getting a new coach. GO FOR IT. Get a great defensive coach. The offense WILL take care of itself. I would not like to see a team like Detroit in here but this might be the formula for a championship.
I would even look into trading Jamison for a decent center and possibly a role player. 2 for 1.

RE:mavs/magic trade: lose 2 of big 3
If we had T-Mac and Dirk (w/a solid post game) could we be stopped on Offense? Probably not. But I don't see how our defense improves and we traded away all of our good trading pieces.
