GDT: Rockets at Mavericks 11/20/13 8:30 PM CST on ESPN
Big game tonight against our I-45 rivals! Tipoff is a little bit later since we're the second game of a nationally televised back-to-back showcase on ESPN.
We're looking surprisingly good this year and the Rockets have started out a little flatter than we expected; especially given the Omer Asik drama situation.
We can win this game. Let's go Mavs!

All of our losses so far have come against top teams on the road. This is our first against such a team in the AAC. It will be a good test of how good we are. We have yet to beat a really good team. Lets start tonight.

This should have been Erica's thread. Don't ruin the mojo!

Asik got a little burn last night in the blowout. Maybe McHale will get the silly notion to try starting him again. Terrence Jones is on fire.

I have a hunch that this troll is a secret Rockets fan especially since last game he said we shouldn't complain about the Rockets getting calls when Dirk got them in 2011.

For the love of god someone knock harden on his ass, prevent his wild 3s, and body up on Howard. Howard hates contact and was bullied in the Lakers game.

Dirk has shot >.5 last 3 games and Monta is averaging 24.6 PPG on .547 shooting at home. Considering the relatively slow start last game, Dallas is going to come out swinging and win this one. Look for Blair to redeem himself after Monday's performance as well making Asik look like a spare...

The key is to shut down Harden. We need to put Marion on him right out the gate and make him work for his shots. I can live with Howard and his "post moves" and the occasional corner three from Parsons... But if we hold Harden to under 20 points, we win the game. We really need this one... 8-4 sounds nice with the 1-11 Jazz up next on Friday. Lets go Mavs!!

no, i just hate blaming the refs in any sport for any of my teams.
i'm just an objective fan. in every game in every sport, the fans of the losing team always have something to say about the refs.
sure, they may have made a bad call against us late in the game but there was probably a bad call that was made in our favor earlier in the game.

We gotta swarm for the boards. No way we win this one if we aren't sending 3-4 players to clear the glass. Our half-court offense is just way too anemic and the Rockets are just too good defensively to get bogged down.We gotta board and we gotta run. Also gotta hustle defensively so we don't have to show off too many of Carlisle's defensive tricks like last game.

For me, the biggest keys of the game are to swipe at Harden's knees early, and then to shiv Howard in the kidneys when he's not looking.

The match up against Houston for us is good since the 4 is strong for us and weak for Houston. I've come to realize Howard's offensive game is pure athleticism, so obvious to say keeping him off o Rebs is key.
If dirk can stretch the play I expect Ellis to go off on Harden or Beverly, they'll probably end up putting parsons on him eventually if not from the start. Anyway Calderon and Ellis should get good penetration which will possibly get Howard in foul trouble or open up dirk /vc on the outside.
The zone worked really well last game. So if we limit tos an keep them in a half court offense it should really slowdown the scoring. Expect a close one 108-105 mavs

Did you take this from Rick's pregame chalk board?

I think Larkin will score over 5 points tonight and get 5 or more assists + steals. I see a lot of potential with Barry's kid. I believe he will have a role this year.

He's not a "stud." Good athlete with a streaky jumpshot that is benefiting from playing with Howard. Reminds me of a lankier, less fluid Beasley (hopefully without the attitude problems). I thought he should have stayed another year at Kentucky.
Mavs need to not double Howard. Bargnani absolutely shut him down one on one.

He is more like a young Lamar Odom over a "less-fluid, lankier" Beasley. He was projected to go in the top five, but he did stay another year to play with Anthony Davis. Be back here tonight after the game for some crow.

Oh, I like Jones a lot. He's going to have a future in this league. He's just not a "stud." He'll be a good role player. The Odom comparison is silly. He isn't near the passer/facilitator Odom was, and he's shown no reason to believe he ever will be. He does have the ability to shoot/drive/post-up, though not as refined.

If he doesn't score 16 in an important game like this, I would be very sad.
