I don't see how he could go to Europe without a breach of contract.

Could he eat the money on his contract if the Euro contract is lucrative enough to compensate? I think that's how American teams get players under contract in Europe.
If that's the case, I hope Gerald Green is not worth several mil to that team.

He already turned down more money to play with the Mavs. So why would he now try to take the money and run to Europe?

Why would we cry over him leaving? IS he gonna start or contribute greatly? Us relying on him is another reason this offseason thus far has been... fail.

I'm not one of those people who think he'll start...but some people do. I think that's a big mistake to consider him that highly right now. Can he get there, sure...he's got the talent to do so, but he just needs to keep working his way up.

I think people believe he'll star because we simply don't have anything better. Stackhouse? Wright? Eddie Jones? Who's even the front runner for the starting shooting guard spot?

Jason Terry or make Josh your two and open up a large field of candidates for the SF position.

I'm pretty sure Wright would be our starting 2 right now, and I can live with that. I'd rather we trade some of our junk for a superstar, but I'm not foolish enough to believe that is going to happen, so if we stand pat on the roster, I gotta think it's Wright. He looked pretty good to me in the very limited time Avery let him see the floor.

I think you're getting Green breaching his contract mixed up with the team breaching its contract with him. If a player breaches, he doesn't owe the team what he would have been paid. What he would owe the Mavs would be the "benefit of their bargain" in entering into the contract, which is a somewhat lucid concept and would have to be determined by a court (or the NBA if they have some body that handles contractual breaches).

I'm sure he'll play for us this year but if he has a good season I could definitely see him getting a lucrative offer from a team overseas next off-season which may make it difficulty to hold on to him should we want to.

Yeah I agree abt Wright. I think he'll be something someday if given sufficient playing time to develop. He can shoot 3's, right?

He's already under contract. Those Euro's coming over have buyouts in their deals....plus a lot of the euro teams fail to meet their salary obligations....thus no contract.

The only way I don't see Jet starting is if they really don't like the situation it puts them in defensively. I know it's a problem, but how big of a problem is it really to them?
I like Wright and I think he can bring stuff to the table, I was impressed with his production for the most part when he came in the trade. I'm just not sure if they'll see it the same way when it comes to him vs Jet.

Yeah But I don't see anything changing as far as JET's size and the situation defensively is concerned. Plus I like the spark he brings off the bench. 6 one way half a dozen the other, I don't care, It's just how I would do it.

I just can't help but giggle every time I see the title of this thread. I'm not sure if it's funnier to think an entire continent could be interested in one player, or a Swedish hair band from the 80s is looking at Gerald Green (new lead singer, maybe?).

Yeah, but I'm sure they won't ignore the positives that occurred with the Kidd/Jet backcourt. I've never seen Jet run as fast as he was on missed baskets and getting a lot of easy buckets. in return. I just have a gut feeling they'll stick with Jet as the starting SG, though I definitely wouldn't mind Wright there.

Like i said I believe Jet, Dirk, and Damp will have amazing seasons and Kidd will be the reason and at the end we will have the trophy : )
** I also think we have a solid 5-6 players and that people are underestimating what Green and Wright can do for this team

If we do win it all, it would go up amongst underdog teams like N.C. State winning the NCAA Championship, and the N.Y. Giants last season.

w/e you wanna say, thats solid starting 5 with 2 solid back ups. I think our bench is young and athletic. They will be able to play some D and score some and thats all we need. Now our bench mite be a little small, but I think we'll make a move to get another big body that can score.
So am just wondering what the "Huh??" is about because the way I see it only 3 teams have a LA, Boston, and possibly Houston have better starting line ups
Green, Wright, Stack....

Because I couldn't quite follow what you were saying. Not that I even disagreed with it, I didn't understand what you trying to say.
