Tough early part of the schedule with a lot of road games.
I'd rather suck early and be great at the end though. Hopefully Carlisle knows something about momentum.

Is it bad that I have a sort of....apathy, when looking at this schedule?
Usually this gets me a little more excited.
And I'm so glad the league could make us Houstons first guinea pigs.

Back-to-backs against NO in the 3rd and 4th to last games (just in time to crush our playoff hopes?)
Hell, the whole last stretch looks tough:
Phoenix
Utah
NO
NO
Minnesota
Houston

Why is our last game against Houston supposedly at TD Banknorth?

Also, I dunno if anybody else noticed, but we are playing @ Portland on X-mas night. That should be fun.

Well if you want to showcase a young team on a TNT double header....just run out the Mavericks to play them. At least I'll have something to watch on xmas.
What's up with both @ Clipper games on Sunday afternoon, and an @ Laker game on Sunday afternoon....and of course we lost 2 late games at Seattle...That's 5 9:30 games they've taken away.
I want my 9:30 games, dammit. I know people hate those, but there's just something better about watching sports late after the wife, and prime time tv and everything else have gone away for the night.

So am I not supposed to MAKE the wife go away when it's MAV TIME?
She is only allowed in my sports/t.v. room when she wants to see the game and be quiet or only talk about the team or game!

How many pairs of shoes did you have to buy her to pull off that sweet deal?

I'm for as few 9:30 games as possible. I don't mind staying up late over the weekend, but as someone who gets to work at 7, I appreciate not having to be up until 1 the night before.

Actually the number of games on ESPN/TNT/ABC from last season and this season are exactly the same.

Are you sure? I'm pretty certain we had more than 19 or 20 national TV games last year.

Pessimistic approach:
we play the Rockets and they now have Ron Artest
Optimistic approach:
we are the first team to have a chance to get Ron to blow up and f the Rockets altogether

Only one home day game this year looks like, on a Sunday in April vs. Phoenix. Dang, was hoping to get my daughter to a few games this season (she's only 2 and goes to bed pretty early).

The Laker game Sunday afternoon is an ABC game. The Mavs had a couple of their national TV games axed late in the season. It all depends on how you play going into March.
Stern screwed up the schedule, there were a couple Seattle games and one OK City game on the Warriors schedule, then the final game of the season for every team has a special location.
Dallas being in the central part of the state really doesn't have a massive eastern or western swing. As a Kidd fan with NJ, we'd always cringe at those western swings and chalk up the Clippers, Sonics and Blazers as automatics. So not too much excitement aside from hoping Kidd's only GSW trip doesn't fall on my annual Thanksgiving Vacation to Taiwan. I'm actually shocked at the amount of national games, given the offseason movement and late season slump....but I'll take it.

Hahah that would be kinda funny actually.
I am going on the record as saying that we beat the Rockets that first game
102 -91 Mavs : )

Maybe I'm thinking of 2 years ago, right after the Finals. I feel like there was a year very recently where we had over 30+ national games. I remember because I was trying to decide whether buying league pass would be worth it.

I am 100% on board with Flaco on this, wife tucked in, no phone calls, etc.
Just me and my Mavs - all is right with the world!

Maybe. Maybe it was 25, I don't know. I just thought when I eyeballed this year's list that it looked like less than the past couple years'.

That initial first road trip could be kind of nasty, at least they aren't B2B. That's kind of crazy you play Christmas Night and then the very next day. I know they're athletes, but they're still people...they'll be away from their families during Christmas for a while. I'll have to look over the schedule more, but those were the first things that popped out.
And...King James for my Birthday, AWESOME.

I'm trying to go to the game on TNT (Mavs opener). I'll put a sign on my Rockets jersey saying "I'm GuerillaBlack". Then hope I don't get jumped by you all.

I'll work X-Mas, Thanksgiving, Lincoln's B-Day, if I get paid the way these guys do. Plus your working on per diem if you're on the road.....the people you feel bad for are the arena employees, the ushers, the ticket people, will call, parking attendants. Then again given it being a holiday they should be getting time and a half pay the whole shift.

Houston actually plays a couple nights before as well, so we're not their first victims. Quite cruel of the NBA to make Charlotte and Dallas the last two teams to open.

Record predictions:
54-28, I think we will at least be more cohesive and win 3 of the close games we lost!
5th seed
2nd round loss in 6 or 7 games.
