Let's try to hit 10,000 members this year
Recently, I've been doing a lot of reading on other teams' boards (Rockets, Celtics, Lakers mostly) and being the competitive guy that I am--I want d-m.com to reach 10,000 members.
just some notables...
Clutchfans - Rockets - 21k members
Spursreport - Spurs - 25k members
Lakersground - Lakers - 16k members

If Kobe comes here, the board will explode!

Ha! I haven't even thought of that.
Not that its going to happen...but yeah that would definitely be nuts.

Do banned members and bots count? I think I might prefer the number stay down.

personally I prefer this little family to stay little...how I long for the days of LRB, varuca, mff, untainted doc, and the old grumpy murphy
more fans means more means more watered down basketball talk

Of our 8k+ members, only 2,378 have even 1 post.
Of those, only about 100 are "contributing members"
Of those, there's probably 15-20 that don't post here anymore.
So, it's big enough, and small enough.
And the GDT's crash the server anyways. Last years playoffs were terrible, the thing would crash at half time every game.

Sike for Mod.
He's got the Bod.
Make it happen.
Give him the Nod.
No funeral.

Murph has been around some. Much like KG, he's been sticking to non-Mav topics.
I'm sure we'll see both of them begin posting in the Mavs section once the season starts. I certainly hope so, anyway.
Doc is gone forever, as far as we know.
LRB, he seems to come in once every 6 months, make a few posts, and leave again.

We'd definitely have to do something about our server situation if Kobe does get traded. Clutchfans had less than 10k members before they drafted Yao..the userbase literally doubled once everyone figured they'd pick Yao. Hopefully we can figure something out without creating too much downtime.

I'm sure some of us would be willing to fork over a few bucks more if the need became dire.

I doubt Kobe will have the same type of effect that Yao had, but there will be a lot of new members that's for sure.

But remember, 3/4 of our members dont post..so if we knew what the stats were for those other gay sites you are referring too.
I doubt 25 K people post daily.

And I agree, this boards layout, look, and usability are freaking fantastic compared to a lot of the crap that's out there.

You do realize that every day there are several spam accounts that join so that number is really false.

can't vbulletin do one of those unique codes to sign up. Each person who wants to sign up has to enter some random jumbled code, that web crawlers wouldn't be able to automate ??
