Playing Powell only 10 minutes was huge

There was a stat coming into this game the Suns had outscored the Mavs by 28 points doing the Minutes that Powell was on the floor the 1st two games.

Powell did a have a few good plays that helped with team momentum, but he is too much of a system guy to a fault. Kleber knows how to just make things happen when needed. Powell will almost never leave his comfort zone of set pick, roll, pass.

Its so nice to have a coach that is flexible and adjusting. No more of the stubborn Rick C BS. I love the aggression. Is Nilikina that much better a defender than Dinwiddie? Is this a mind game by Kidd to get Spencer to play better? Mavs weren’t even hitting their threes. If the refs called all the fouls, the Suns would be in foul trouble just from Luka.

I think we’ll see Josh again this series
He’s had his moments and flashes for what in essence is really like a rookie year for him
Glad kidd played him during the year to give him opportunities for growth
I hope they keep investing in him - it’ll pay off even if not this year or this series.

I'm completely baffled as to what has happened to Dinwiddie.

I mean dude has been bad over the last 6-8 playoff games.

He looks more like the guy that was in Washington as opposed to the guy after the trade deadline.

At this point I'd rather sacrifice his offense for Franks's defense.

SD’s outside shooting has cooled off and it’s affecting his ability to get to the basket because defenders are playing the drive.

That being said, Frank looked shook. Now is not the time to start giving him minutes.

Okay now I can officially say this playoffs has been a success imo. Getting to the second round and getting swept would’ve undoubtedly left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.

Brunson Bullock was awesome. Bullock has generally been good most games but nice to see Brunson go balls out.

Dinwiddie makes no logical sense. I don’t get it.

Kudos on Kidd and staff realizing Powell can’t be on the floor.

Hope CP had a shitty birthday

Great game by the Mavs. Should have been a blow out. They missed a dozen completely open threes. Several of them while being up 17 or 18 points to take the lead over 20. With 20 up you break them an run away.
Luka looked short on many of his shots. I hope he gets his lift back.

In the first two games of this series, the Mavs averaged 18.5 FGA in the restricted area and hit 62.2 percent of them. In Game 3 Dallas took 25 shots in the restricted area and made 80 percent of them. Have to stay aggressive.

Mavericks 103, Suns 94
Luka: 26 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals
Jalen Brunson: 28 points, 5 assists

Dorian Finney-Smith on Luka Doncic: “The first or second possession, he was on the floor. When the best player does that, it sets the tone.”

Luka: 26 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists and two steals in 34 minutes, one dime shy of his fourth career playoff triple-double.
The 94 points for Phoenix tonight are the fewest points for the Suns in any game in the 2021-22 regular season or postseason

Brunson drove to the basket 26 times in Game 3. He had only 23 combined in Games 1 and 2, per@SecondSpectrum. Mavs scored 1.3 points per Brunson drive tonight, an elite number.

3 and D guys were all instrumental in the Mavs Game 3 win:
Bullock: 15 pts, 4 made 3s, 3 steals
Finney-Smith: 14 pts, 4 made 3s, 3 stls
Kleber: 14 pts, 2 made 3s, 3 blocks

Mavs win 103-94 for their first win in the series. After 22 points combined in the first 2 games for Jalen Brunson, he erupted for 28 points in a fantastic and aggressive performance to lead the team in scoring.

Dorian Finney-Smith is up to 50 threes in 21 career playoff games.

Frank Ntilikina played in Josh Green’s typical rotation pattern as a defensive specialist, part of an effort to wear down the Suns’ All-Star duo by the fourth quarter, and provided extra backcourt depth in Doncic’s spot voids.

Dallas even made adjustments to respond to the NBA’s moves Friday afternoon, when the league fined the organization $25,000 for standing “on or encroaching upon the playing court during the game.”
Their fix?
Reserves, led by Theo Pinson and Tim Hardaway Jr., and owner Mark Cuban appeared even more animated and theatrical on the bench and around the baseline.
They held their hands low to the ground after Doncic backed down and knocked over Bridges, for example, celebrated a Paul technical foul at mid-court and jawed with Booker throughout the fourth quarter.
Message received.

Devin Booker when guarded by Frank Ntilikina this post-season
(total of 17 possessions) Booker was 1-8 with 6 TOs
The next lowest FG% Booker has been held to by a single player was 43%. That player?* Jrue Holiday, in the 2021 Finals

betting related...Phoenix opens -1.5 for Game 4.
Note, however, that Phoenix also opened -1.5 for Game 3 before some (very wise) sharp bettors took Dallas this afternoon and pushed the line all the way to Dallas -1.5.

Wow didn’t realize how effective Frank had been on Book.

Damn, Crowder is shooting 60% from the floor AND the three this series. That will hurt us when one of Paul or Booker get going again.

If Crowder is beating you, you have to live with that. He’s going to get his corner looks because of defensive rotations when CP and Book get in the paint. I do agree we need to chase him off the 3 point line when possible and make him drive.

Ayton is good, but when it comes to protecting the paint he's no Rudy. I feel we got traumatized by his presence in the paint last round and that carried over to this series when it shouldn't. We are respecting Ayton's shot blocking way too much. Take it to him, get him in foul trouble and/or get some points in the paint, I say.

I still believe in Spencer. Maybe its just taking him time to figure it out. Once he does, Suns are in real trouble. Is it just me or am I imagining this. In the first two games, the Mavs looked beat physically. Their little guards got exposed. Last night, they were the ones doing the beating. Brunson really set the tone. He is going to play more physical. I really liked the mental fortitude. Kudos to Kidd for trying Nilikina. Not sureit had an effect but he wasn’t a negative either. Suns will probably put a taller guy on Luka again.

Nice! and I agree with your takes. Kind of worried about the minutes we
playing DFS and Bullock at 41m each - it's just the playoff beating they are taking is going to take a toll.
I'm glad they are tough minded and glad we have someone else that can play defense beside DFS.

Not sure why anyone would be hard on Spencer. His role is still nearly perfect for this team, and his all around skill means he is actively participating. Defense even looked solid this game.

It's not like THJ who only looks good when the threes are falling.

He’s missed a bunch of point blank looks. I think if a few of those start to fall he’ll look a lot better. I agree about his defense. He did a nice job this last game.
