Not only should they change the voting ( eliminate the fans they are mostly idiots ) they should also change the format. It should be USA born all stars against he World NBA all stars. It would make for a better actually contested game instead of the stupid old and tired mistake ridden attempts at emulating the Globe Trotters except for the last few minutes. When the Allstare game first started the players actually used to care and played good ball. Now the game itself is all just a joke including on how the players are selected.
I also believe that Yao will continue to be selected even long after he has died.

Dirk is now 6th in voting and its a very real possibility his streak may end. Hopefully, Gasol gets moved to the center position.
The voting for West forwards, at present:
1 Kevin Durant (Thunder) 945,944
2 Carmelo Anthony (Nuggets) 742,284
3 Pau Gasol (Lakers) 702,859
4 Tim Duncan (Spurs) 551,226
5 Blake Griffin (Clippers) 540,701
6 Dirk Nowitzki (Mavericks) 518,682

So if Dirk isn't an all star, then explain the mavs 2nd best record in the Western conference without any all stars. Don't tell me Kidd's getting in the game.

I don't know why everyone is worried about Dirk getting voted into the game - the coaches will vote him in, the guy is an MVP candidate (again).

It's just the principle of it all. Dirk shouldn't need a coaches vote to get into the All-Star Game.

Maybe Dirk is the casual NBA Fan not spectacular enough! No Question that the coaches will vote him in!

Watching the Clippers game at NBA TV and the commentators are just crazy, saying that Griffin is the PF in the west that deserved it most to be in an Allstar, and no other PF derseves it to be in the West allstar team!

the commentators are the ones that are mostly responsible for promotion of the over valued flash but little substance superstars. Most of the fans have no concept themselves of basketball or the individual value of players other than what they see through highlight moments. Watch the highlights they are mostly dunks even if they are only uncontested. The announcers and commentators are the modern carnival barkers responsible for the promotion of the show. They tend to promote sensationalism as opposted to actual substance.
The announcers actually don't really know basketball as well as they should either. I have seen them give blocks to a player with the rep over one that actually made the block. They have a preconcieved mind set and agenda. They are in the promotion business. What is wrong with letting people watch the action and evaluate it on their own.

Western Conference All-Star reserves: T. Duncan, P. Gasol, R. Westbrook, B. Griffin, M. Ginobili, D. Nowitzki, and D. Williams.

Chandler COULD still make a spot as Duncan or Gasol will likely take Yao Ming's spot due to injury. That means Chandler will have to beat Lamarcus Aldridge and Kevin Love to make the roster.

Question - when they add up the fan votes, do they count 100 votes for fans that have voted 100 times for the same player? The vote tally would seem very low if that was the case.

No worries, I just followed you to keep your follower count the same! This only works once, though... next time you're on your own.
In all seriousness, funny stuff.
Edit: Also, are you going to follow her advice and get educated?

Pop's probably going to want to limit Duncan, so he will probably lobby hard for Aldridge, Love or possibly Chandler. With Westbrook making the team, can't see another point being added without a point being out.
Geez, 4 Celtics, 2 Hawks amongst the reserves and why not the cherry on top, Bosh, 3 Heat. Rose, Amare, Howard, sorry no teammates.

If Kevin Love doesn't make the ASG, I'm not going to watch. Not only because I really love his game, but because he's been pretty close to a top 10 player this season. What a freaking joke.

Tyson Chandler could still be All-Star
link
NEW YORK -- If Tyson Chandler is to return home to Los Angeles as a first-time All-Star he's going to need a little help from the commissioner.
The reserves for the Western and Eastern Conference All-Star teams were announced Thursday evening and the Dallas Mavericks' 7-foot-1 starting center didn't make the cut among a loaded field in the West that promised to leave more than one deserving candidate disappointed.
"I felt the only thing I could do is put myself in this situation to be considered," Chandler said. "Just to be considered is a great honor. But my goal is to always help my team win, whatever that may be. Whether it's scoring, rebounding, defending, doing the little things, whatever it takes. I felt like I accomplished that. And that's all I can do."
As expected, Mavs forward Dirk Nowitzki did make the team, his 10th consecutive appointment. He joins forwards Tim Duncan, Pau Gasol and rookie Blake Griffin, as well as guards Russell Westbrook, Manu Ginobili and Deron Williams.
Chandler figured to have a shot because the center position in the West was not particularly strong. However, an overload of candidates at the forward and guard positions ultimately pushed Chandler out. Also left off the team were forwards Kevin Love and Seagoville product LaMarcus Aldridge, as well as guard Steve Nash.
"He's one of four or five guys that were absolutely deserving of being All-Stars, but because it is such a potent year in the West there are only so many spots," Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said. "Tyson, this guy, that guy and this other guy were all deserving based on what they're doing for their teams, their statistics and their overall play. But this year in the West it was a hard ticket."
Nowitzki, coming off his best performance Wednesday night at New York -- with 29 points and 11 rebounds -- since returning from a sprained right knee 10 games ago, still could have company when he heads to L.A. for All-Star Weekend on Feb. 18-20.
NBA commissioner David Stern will make a "Commissioner's Selection" to replace injured center Yao Ming, who was voted a starter by the fans. Chandler will be a long shot on a short list for that honor among a group that will likely include Nowitzki's old buddy Nash (as well as Love and Aldridge), Tony Parker and centers Andrew Bynum and Nene.
"My goal coming here was to make an impact on the team and change the culture of the team," Chandler said. "And although I feel like we're not completely there, we're headed in the right direction. So I feel like we've done a good job so far."
In 39 games, Nowitzki is averaging a team-high 23.2 points and 6.9 rebounds in his 13th season, leading the Mavs to the West's third-best record at 33-15 despite missing a career-high nine games due to injury with a sprained right knee.
Nowitzki is shooting a career-best 52.5 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from 3-point range. Wednesday night at New York, Nowitzki became the 24th player in league history to record 22,000 career points. In December, he passed Larry Bird and Gary Payton to move into 24th on the NBA's all-time scoring list, and he currently ranks fourth among active players in career scoring behind Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett.

You guys are silly.
There is 0.000000000% chance Tyson replaces Yao.
It will be Nash/Love/Aldridge, in that order of likeliness. I'd bet my life savings on one of the three. It's a lock.

Oh, no.
The East selections are awful.
Boozer/Josh Smith should be there over KG/Bosh.
JJ shouldn't really be there, but I guess there aren't any better guards in the East.

I love Tyson's play, but in terms of overall skill, it will be criminal if he makes it in over Love...or even Nash. Also, ASG is all about the fans. Let them vote in whoever they want. The All NBA teams are for ranking the best players. I'd much rather see Tyson on an All NBA team.

I'm just happy that Shaq didn't make it. He was voted 2nd only behind Dwight Howard amongst Centers in the EC. Just crazy. He is like walking with a cane on the court and completely gone. Imagine he would have been voted in front of Howard (although that would never happen these years). F*ck this popularity contest, the actual performance should be the only thing that matters.
