Tristan Thompson Stopped talking to Cavs
Tristan Thompson stop talking to the Cavs, since we lost DJ, is there a chance to get a talk to him and a Sign. Thompson was super on 2015 Playoff for the cavs.

Interesting, but he's restricted and so probably not worth much effort here.

I see no downside in chasing RFAs at this point... What do we have to lose?

Nah, he's only making $3.25m more per season than he would've if Jordan came here... We still have tons of cap space.

Go for him. He was great in the playoffs. He actually made it to the finals unlike some other center.

Uh no. We still have a ton of cap room and "Mr.Achilles" actually has the guts and pride to stick by his commitment to the Mavs so how about showing a bit more respect?

Hmm, I like Tristan. I guess he'd be Dirk's backup and also spending some time at the 5 as well?

He'd be the starting 5 without question.

Hmm...Thompson and Zaza would be pretty good at the 5. The only thing with Thompson is I can't seem to recall him scoring without it coming off of an offensive rebound. And I can't imagine the Cavs not getting him back anyway, Thompson was going all out in the Finals.

Would be nice, but Zaza is costing over $5mil. The Mavs have ~10-11mil capspace left.. not enough to land Thompson.

Tristan has actually earned a big contact. He would be right for the max. Even if not the Mavs.

Thompson would be a real coup. I think he has the motor and physical presence to be a difference maker. Would be shocked if it worked out that he could join the Mavs. I think Cleveland is just waiting to match an offer sheet.

Tweener center PF. Dirk can spread the floor tremendously if he was here.

Can you blame him? Who else was going to give him 70+ million coming off that injury? I'd be loyal too lol.

I don't think we can give him the max - not enough cap space now? I think the Cavs offer to him was 16/per and he turned it down - so I'm sure they would match anything to at least that point.

I don't know where we are with the Mavs cap space, but you perhaps could imagine a contract similar to the one drawn up for Parsons (Morey said it was the most untradeable contract he had ever seen). If Thompson signed something like that, then the Cavs might think long and hard about matching. Lots of ifs...

He's coming off of his rookie contract. So he's max should be less than Jordan got. I don't think they changed this with new CBA. You would be looking at a deal that Parsons has.
Also, would Cavs match the offer knowing that Thompson doesn't want to be there? I guess they could... Eric Gordon was in a similar position. It won't hurt to try though.

Did Morey say that? What made Parsons contract so bad? Yes, a little overpaid last season but now it seems to be on par with what everyone else is getting and he has a option to get out next season right?

I read somewhere that Thompson isn't that excited about coming back now with Love getting healthy. He won't really get solid minutes behind Mozgov and Love.

I nearly forgot that both of those guys were there. He can get more PT here that's for sure.

It's definitely a better situation for Cleveland than it is for TT. I think if it wasn't for Lebron then they would trade TT or let him walk.

i don't know the details but there were clauses that limited trade options both in the areas of when he could be traded and also in the area of financial considerations. My understanding is that they were pretty specific. Cuban's response to Morey was something like, "We don't intend to ever trade him, so we don't think they are a big deal". Something along those lines.

Lebron is wisely holding Gilbert's feet to the fire by only signing these 1-year contracts, and so Gilbert would be under a ton of pressure to match any offer TT got.
But more importantly, it doesn't appear we're even close to having enough cap space to make a strong offer

Tristan Thompson was never ever not going to return to cavs. No matter if he signed offer sheet with another team or not.

And Thompson is looking for more? Or would the Cavs match that? I'm sure they would for Lebron's sake.

Well, about $5MM went to Za Za, another $5MM to D-Will, and Wes got an extra $3MM. So there's a majority of it.
The cap-master here posted on the other board that we had about $11MM left after ZaZa; so after D-Will we'll be down to around $6MM.
