The camera is all you care about? It's a Canon EOS 40D SLR.

But the intent of the thread was for our new puppy. *rolls eyes*

And yes, in case you were wondering.... she was named after the mother of a famous Wizard.

She's a Golden Retriever.

A pureblood though, so I realize that naming her after a "mudblood" doesn't fit. But in the Sarajevo household we don't see blood status.

My wife is allergic to cats. So we don't go there. We have a creek behind our fence that comes in handy for any stray cats that come into our yard. (KIDDING...... but not really)

Whether it's sweet or not is completely dependent on how you prepare it.

J/k! Cute dog! I love Gold Retrievers, but I wouldn't like to keep one outside and I simply don't have the space for when they grow up to acommodate him/her inside the house.

Mandatory "Nice Camera Setup!"

She's an inside dog. It kills me having to ignore her whining at 1, 1:15, 1:45, 2:00, 2:05, 2:35, 2:45, 2:50, 3:00, 3:01, 3:08, 3:15, 3:27, 3:39 (and that was a nice 12 minute sleepfest I had), 3:45, 3:52, 3:58, 4:01, 4:10, 4:16, 4:25, 4:32, 4:38, 4:47, 4:56, 5:01, 5:03, 5:07 in the morning before I wake up. But I'm told if I don't, I will severely regret it. Kudos to the kids for also not getting up with her. Although they sleep through the public service alarms too so not sure if they actually hear her.

sounded like when my daughter was born.

btw, I have (3) dogs and one is a great dane/boxer puppy about 5 months old. Good luck with the house breaking and the furniture chewing.

Cats smell way worse than Dogs. I actually like the subtle musk of a dog house. Cat houses just smell like cat pee and kitty litter and "kid" houses smell like Chef Boyardee and baby wipes.

There's a reason why golden puppies are the choice for most advertising using dogs. They are so damn cute!

I have a 5-year-old male golden (Oscar). Amazing dog. He's been nothing short of spectacular with our little girl.

My aunt (based out of Nashville) actually breeds and shows goldens. That's where we got Oscar. And oh yeah, he was a cuter puppy than Lily (sorry U2 )

What the hell's a cat house? I'm talking about animals, not houses.

An animal with a drooling mouth larger than your face will have much worse breath. And have you ever smelled a boxer fart? Good lord.

Man, last night was great. I only heard her once.

As to furniture chewing, chicken wire is the key (use it as a barrier around furniture that would be hard - or expensive - to replace). We were given this tip by the breeder, and told that after 8 weeks it would be safe to remove. Supposedly she learns the behavior to leave that furniture alone. So the only thing she is exposed to that would be hard to replace is our couch. And she hasn't done anything with that (yet) other than lounge around.

Quick question, if you don't mind, on house breaking. I don't have experience with that because our last doggie we rescued and was already house broken. So we were told to keep her in an enclosed room at night with cardboard for her to do her business on (and of course, taking her out before bedtime to do her business). We are doing that, and it's working great so far..... she only goes on the cardboard at night and we have had no "accidents" yet. Is that a good way? I don't get how she will learn to hold it at night until I take her on her morning walk if she is given something that she will see that we accept her to do her business on at night. Maybe I am overthinking this.

The cardboard, in my experience, is just to help them until they are old enough to hold it that long. Its like diapers for a baby. You don't start potty training a baby right when they pop out, because they physically can't hold it that long. Eventually, you can take the cardboard away and start rewarding her when she goes outside. Remember though, its not about punishing her for going inside, its about rewarding her for going outside.

Also, one thing that can help is to eventually move the cardboard outside where you want her to pee. Then she learns that she is supposed to go outside. Once she knows that, you can take away the cardboard and she will still go outside. Over time she will learn that outside is the bathroom. It like, even though you have towels and things in your room, you still pee in the toilet (I hope) because you have learned that is the correct place to go.
