Madape
I swear every player you like, I dislike, and every player you dislike, I like.
Every comment you make I disagree with. How can that be.
I guess we both like the Mavericks.
Sometimes I think you are just being difficult.
Just an observation.

RE:Mavs vs. Jazz Gameday Thread
What a game, some steller performances so far...can't say how happy I am to see these guys fill up the stat sheet:
5 Mavs in double figures
Dirk with 30, 7 reb, 4 blk
Quis with 10, 6 reb, 6 ast, 6 st
J-Ho with 17, 10 reb
Jet with 19 (4-4 from 3), 9 ast, 5 reb, 4 st
Stack with 18, 3 ast, 2 blk
D. Armstrong 0-4 w/ 1 TO...so glad he's on board
Garbage time now...woohoo...
Edit:
Awesome assists numbers tonight, great work on the boards, great containment of Boozer, and I'm loving how we managed to win by such a large margin despite the Jazz shooting a higher FG%. Way to get to the FT line guys! Damp really needs to get a handle on the ball...wish he was the 6th Mav with a kickass performance. Good defensive play tonight too...let's keep it rollin'!

RE:Mavs vs. Jazz Gameday Thread
Terry is going to have a couple of games like these coming off the bench but I don't expect them to come often due to him coming off the bench. I think he can do this more consistently starting and playing with the best players out on the court. Great game for every Mav tonight. Armstrong gets a pass because I doubt he even knew 1 play we ran tonight. You can easily see he doesn't have much chemistry with the guys on the defensive side of the ball but this will all come in due time. If you remember it took Nash, Hardaway, Nick and Eisley awhile to learn our system. Best never did get use to it. What I loved about todays game is the team play. This has got to be our best win of the season. I don't really mind much when Dirk has single digit rebounding efforts because if we get a win out of it that tells me others helped Dirk out rebounding tonight. I saw a bunch of guys even grabbing boards from Dirk which you don't really like to see when it results into a turnover but nonetheless they're helping. I'm sure some will disagree but I thought Damp played well tonight. I defintely expect more but he was a reason why Boozer had a terrible night. I can't believe the guy didn't get double digit rebounds. I could've sworn I saw him grab more than 10 boards tonight. Don't have the stats on me but I know almost half of his rebounds had to have been offensive. That's one thing we got alot of tonight which was second chance shots. The Mavs players should be proud of themselves tonight. They could've easily came in after that Rockets win and thought this game would be a cakewalk without Kirlienko.

IMO, it does. It's not easy coming off the bench which is why dependable bench players are so hard to find in todays basketball. Granted, on this team you can come off the bench and get 30-35 minutes a night but if you come into the game cold and playing horrible you aren't just going to start lighting it up as the game goes on. If you don't come into the game with a groove you're not going to have one. And with Terry, he's much more than a bench player to us. He's a guy we need to run our offense. Tonight is a prime example even though it was a team that didn't have not only their best defender but their best player.

I guess Terry get's the idea that if he doesn't start stepping up he's gonna lose his spot on the starting team. He sure has tonight. Lets hope it continues ;D

I hope this is not the idea of the DA pickup, and I don't think it is. Terry has been purely professional so far for the mavs. The coaches should understand that he will have his difficulties being that coming off the bench is perhaps still unfamilar for him, and also, he is on a new team, trying to learn the nuances of fourteen new faces. Not exactly the ideal situation for Terry. I do think that DA was brought in to allow the mavs to bring devin along slower, and perhaps, light a little fire under harris if anything.

I somewhat agree with Ninkobei. I think the DA acquisition was to not only turn up Terry's game but in case if Terry doesn't get that message they have insurance in DA. Terry's gonna get his role sooner or later. I don't know any of his coaches off the top of my head but I know for a fact he's never ran an offense like the one Nellie has. This offense is going to take some time to learn and it doesn't help that he and others have been injured. It will come in due time.

RE: Mavs vs. Jazz Gameday Thread
Team got back to pushing the ball tonight and making some good decisions on the breaks. Very nice job by the jet, he looked pretty healthy out there. Dampier really looks poor offensively, but just continues to do things defensively that doesn't show up in the box. Boosier(sp) just couldn't deal with him. Boozier is a guy who would normally give us fits with his aggressiveness.
Josh just continues to have a great season, he just does it all, we've NEVER had a small forward that plays as big as he does.
Dirk is ....well....unbelievable. Scored what 30 tonight and never looked like he was breaking a sweat.

Great point about dampier limiting boozer. I should have noticed that but the 8 turnovers got me. You said Terry looked healthy out there; I know he had an awesome stat line, but did he drive to the basket at all today? Thanks, only got to see the last couple minutes.

I don't believe that. I don't think you just make a trade for insurance. Granted, they didn't give up much but I think they expect DA to average 20+ minutes with them. I read on the telecast today a quote from Nellie that said this guy could be starting once he get's the system.

Yeah, I don't believe what I hear from Nellies all the time either, but this time what donnie said seems to make sense. It would be scary if Terry got hurt and we had to depend on harris, daniels, and dickau as an insurance policy. But I agree with you, DA is too good to not play at all.

Definately. Maybe i'm wrong. Maybe they were thinking ahead. Maybe Terry's injury is bigger than I thought.

Jlee...
Terry drove well but mostly he just looked very quick on his feet. He cut really well, was assertive and just looked about the most comfortable I've seen him in a while.

RE: Mavs vs. Jazz Gameday Thread
I think you DO make an insurance policy when it costs you little. If Jason goes down and harris had to play 35 minutes we would probably be toast. I still think that would knock us out of the playoffs...UNLESS harris came around.
I kind of hate saying this but as a season ticket holder, I want my investment to mean something come playoff time (assuming we are in it). Not like last year, cubes made my investment not worth a crapola..

Another motive for this trade may be for Armstrong's 3pt shooting. His career .337 is pretty respectable.

Maybe they thought that since Dan had so much potential they didn't want to let him rot on the bench so they traded him for a guy who can teach Harris? this may be too far outside the box...

haha, I really don't think so, but it is in the realm of possiblity. I would love to hear dickau turning into a player over at NO. As for teaching Harris, I think DA has plenty he could pass down to Harris. Good perspective.

Josh with his double-double tonight will have 4 and probably be tied with lebron james, ben wallace, yao ming, amare stoudemire...folks like that. Kid is really becoming something.....
Edit....Lebron/Yao logged double-doubles tonight so take them off the list...

I kind of hate saying this but as a season ticket holder, I want my investment to mean something come playoff time (assuming we are in it). Not like last year, cubes made my investment not worth a crapola..

Don't get me wrong you do make this trade and you do trade for insurance policies in this league but I just can't see Don or Cuban sitting one day and thinking we need an insurance policy. Not at this point of the season. These type of trades happen at midseason. I could be wrong but I think this deal was done to get DA 20+ minutes here. To turn up Terry's game also.

RE:Mavs vs. Jazz Gameday Thread
The game after Dirk scored 53 it looks like it was kinda easy for many to take his 30 points for granted.
