GDT Game 25 - Mavs (6-19) at Jazz (16-10) 9:30 ESPN/FSSW
Jazz are a tough team in both rebounding and defense-- two things that give us fits, which means it should be an easy win. It's also nationally televised, which is good for us.
Injuries
Dirk - Achilles - indefinite
JJB - hamstring - a while
Bogut - knee - a while
Mejri - Ankle - questionable (?)
Biggest question? Who starts at center with Bogut and Mejri out? Do we go Powell? Hammons? Go small?

Should be a very straightforward loss. On a sidenote, Gobert needs to win DPOY this year. Kid is a freakin' beast on defense.

I imagine Hammond gets decent burn. Need someone with size so Gobert doesn't have a career night.

The Jazz are so young and talented, our otter is jizzing allready
In other news, i think we should try to trade for Otter Porter from the Wizards.

Interesting how there's still a shot to get into playoff contention. We can still rest Dirk while trying to get these wins. Now if they can try another game against Utah with a win. That'd be an upgrade.

You can see why Rick could get irritated by Mejri. He complains after every foul. Problem is a lot of his arent fouls. But his complaining pits him against the referees and they have an extremely short leash with him for some reason, which is where the T just came from.

Can anyone explain how Powell can NEVER hit a jumper? I cant wrap my head around it. Its always on target, but either a tad short or a tad long. He can never straighten it out

Had to record this one and watch it late. Mejri really does get out of control a lot when fouls are being called on him.. And he almost throws child like tantrums after calls it seems. We found out why Hammons gets no minutes tho... he's a ways away from being able to defend without fouling and he didn't seem to know where to be on offense a whole lot.
Good competitive loss though.

Thank you D-Will for being a flipping idiot! That was a lot closer than it should have been, but I'll take the L.

Thank you, Rodney!
Also, thank you Deron. We almost accidentally won.
We don't need wins. We need balls.

Powell is somewhat of a lost cause. He doesn't really do anything consistently well outside of the occasional lob dunk.

You almost wonder if Deron did that on purpose for otter's sake. Seriously, the guy has been in the league long enough to know better.

Powell is vastly overpaid and Barry NBA talent. It's just a fact.

Yeah I couldn't understand why we resigned him for what we did. He's the ultimate tweener 4/5 who lacks PF skills and isn't big enough to hang with the true centers of the league.
He brings some energy off the bench but is more suited to be a situational/insurance guy than a regular rotation player.
He's kind of a liability on both ends.

I'd like to see the Mavs find a way to find some type of deal to package any combination of Anderson/Powell/Hammons/Bogut/Harris/Barea/DWill/our 2nd pick to bring in a legit young center with size that has some upside.
No idea who that might be but if one becomes available I think all of those guys are expendable and that is a position we should target.
We will most likely draft our future PG so I'd think we should start looking for at least a strong backup quality center with starter potential via trade at the deadline.
I'm perfectly happy with Curry taking on the JET/VC/NVE bench role to make JJ and Harris expendable and DFS/Brussino makes Anderson a nice expendable trade asset imo.

Deron clearly did that because he wanted to quiet the crowd that had been heckeling him all night long. He saw a wide open look and took it....unfortunately with 9 seconds left. lol. Emotion overides logic.

He was kept because he was the only remotely positive thing that came from the disaster that was the Rondo trade.

What's weird is by all accounts he's a hard worker. Just seems to lack confidence(and size, strength and a jump shot. And ability to finish and play post D). One of the more underated aspects of being a good athlete. Confidence. Simba may have some of the same lack of mental makeup to make it
