Also, maxing-out Noel isn't going to leave us with enough cap space to sign another max player unless we somehow dump Matthews or Powell/Harris without taking back any salary. Easier said than done, especially with the cap being only $101m next season instead of the originally-projected $108m.
You really need to educate yourself on how the salary cap works... OKC has the 3rd-highest payroll in the league, they're almost $10m over the cap -- they won't be able to sign anyone of consequence this summer.

Oh trust me I know basketball enough to know the Mavs cap space. Which is the obvious team I research mostly.

The main reason is Noel and Barnes. Paul could really think about bolting if Griffin leaves don't you think? He's tried with Deandre how many times and the guy proves he's not going anywhere. That game 7 Paul seemed like he's really leaving after the post game interview too. With Noel this could actually intrigue Paul. But that's where it sets up moving Harris to free space. Then try to draft Jonathan Isaac, Markkanen, Collins, or the best forward. Which can also leave the team that looks like a contender if Wes can at least bounce back next season defensively. Dirk would not only have a young team but a starting 5 that could do damage. Now all depending if the ETO is used.

Players join teams for 2 main reasons. More money, or a better chance at winning a ring. The Mavs are drafting in the top 10 and can't sign him to any more than anyone else.
She's just not that into you, the end.

I don't know but Carlisle does like to pickup PG's already going on 33. Like Kidd was when he moved on from the Nets. This is where I can see it make sense for Paul too. Doc Rivers is a shit coach with no actual depth. Mavs actually will finally have depth after this draft.

But you were talking about OKC and didn't seem to have a clue about their cap situation... At least take 30 seconds to educate yourself before posting: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Oklahoma+City+Thunder+team+salary

Or Paul could go to the third-best team in the league and play with Leonard, Aldridge, and Gasol, where he'd fit like a glove (especially with Parker inching closer to retirement).
Hell, after the Jordan drama, I get the sense that he doesn't have the slightest respect for Dallas, Cuban, Dirk, or the Mavs franchise as a whole... Why the hell would he come here?

Well it goes like you said trying to get a ring. Sure spurs could be an option. But the Mavs do have players also who can help him get their 2nd ring. You wouldn't think Paul can get persuaded if Mavs got to draft let's say a Jonathan Isaac.. and Dirk on the last stint of his career?

Have you even watched the NBA in the last 6 years?? The Spurs were 61-21 this season, the Mavs were 33-49... It's not even close.

Speaking of. This Houston Spurs series could be foretelling for next years division on how the Mavs can draft.

Going 61-21 without Duncan is NOT a negative... Bro.

You can't spin winning into a negative.

We didnt pick a future MVP with our #15 in the draft
Spurs will be forever fine.

Why would you think I meant something that I never said or even implied?
The Spurs are 61-21, the Mavs are 33-49... If Chris Paul is hunting for a ring, then he's going to the better team (and yes, those numbers are a VERY clear indication of which is the better team).

Maybe cause 61 wins can assume finals contender?
But this spurs team is looking like crap right now with Leonard against Houston. It has me love it Mavs have a faster Barnes.

You can assume that the team with the 2nd best record this season is closer to the Finals than the team with the 22nd best record, yes. That's not even debatable.

Leonard is doing just fine with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block in the first half -- not sure why you'd single him out... And you can't tell me that SA wouldn't look a lot better with CP3 on the floor right now, can you?

They certainly have a better chance at going the finals than the Mavs do.

Aldrige is garbage. I've said that from the beginning of the season. He is, imo, the single reason the Spurs have no shot at a ring. Hope I'm wrong since I hate the Rockets.

Staggering fall off of the cliff. Last year's WCF Game 1 38 points. Game 2 41 points. He looks completely disinterested and slow. Portland lucked out when he walked.

It's a good lesson to know that certain players just can't play for Pop or Rick because of the strict system. What is good about a system though is that it forces players to be on the same page. Team effort.
That's why Doc Rivers keeps failing. He is a player friendly coach, but look what happens when you have differing egos that you can't control.

Remember the season of free agency drama?
Aldridge spurned the Suns and Blazers
Mavs "scored" with Matthews
Deandre drama
People thought Aldridge was the next Duncan and the Spurs would continue their reign as an elite team.
They're amazing, but it's mostly because of Leonard moving into that ultra elite level of NBA play.

I think it's a mistake to write off the Spurs. That blowout doesn't carry into the next game. Pop will get the underperforming players attention and I expect they bounce back next game. Game plan adjustments and strategery is what he does very well.

Or maybe Duncan being retired could really show the end of the spurs finals runs?

I think the Wiz could play Cle to 7 games and have a chance because of their defense. But Boston is a bad match up for them.
