Mavs fans cheering for this team to lose?
I ask this only from personal experience.
Being a C's fan and having been through a couple years of moderate playoff success that team had its fair share of fans who wanted it to fail mostly because of AW.....this hatred made fans anti-fans and the team evenutally did regress due to poor player management....and ultimately big changes were made......
Do Mavs fans want this team to lose right now? I say it's not as close as the 50/50 pertaining to my C's of the past two years, but it's getting close IMO.
Mavs fans want this team to fail so changes can be made......Nellie fired, Finley, Jamison, Walker traded......even whispers of Dirk being traded....
all of this is ridiculous....either you're a fan of this team and you cheer for them to win or you don't!
I am no longer a C's fan. I can not relate to that team anymore.....
I cheer for the Mavs to win because they're a fun team to watch and not single one of them plays the game with disrespect (some may argue with this) and they win (more often than not).
I see a Mavs and Pacers NBA Final in the near future.....that would be entertaining to watch!

RE:Mavs fans cheering for this team to lose?
You're talking to the wrong people here, puba.
Aside from guys like bookit, I think the consensus here is that :
1.) Walker is a Good Player BUT........
2.) ....He just doesn't FIT with this team.

Unless its Duncan, I'll still politely say no, but for anyone else, F*** NO.
A Mavs fan cheering for the mavs to lose.....C'mon now we got more class than those Sacramento fans who boo Chris Webber. That team didnt start winning til he got their.
And you can say the same for us with Dirk.

RE: Mavs fans cheering for this team to lose?
I'm not cheering for this team to lose.... and never will, but I'm not so into our games...... who am I lying to, I still pull a huge amount of hair out of my head when they play. But I'm not sure why we can beat a Spurs or Lakers team the way we go 0-2 against Sac-to, and since the path to a championship will lead to one of those two teams......

--Are you freaking joking ?
I have no idea what you're basing your opinion on, but that's just nonsensical. As Murphy said, I don't know of any single fan who wants the team to fail. We may be realistic about the very real possibility of a 1st round exit BUT....the idea of "Wanting it to happen" is just absurd.
Mavs fans are not anything like Celtic fans, obviously.

RE: Mavs fans cheering for this team to lose?
If wanting the Mavs to blow it up in the offseason which includes trading away a few players, and firing the coach... then I guess I am guilty of what Puba says.
The reason why I want them to blow it up is because I do not see a chance in hell in succeeding with the current coach or the group of players.
But having said that I want them to win as many games as the possibly can. Which unfortunately looks a lot less than it did a week ago.

RE:Mavs fans cheering for this team to lose?
the only team I would want the team to lose is if there was something bigger in the future. There are only two examples of that
1) blowing a useless regular season game to get position to go farther in the postseason
2) blowing a useless game AFTER missing the playoffs for a better chance at a #1 pick.
Most of the posters here wouldnt even agree with those two. You may sense dissatisfaction, but no one honestly wants us to lose game 3. That is rediculous and you know it. Some people might want Nellie gone out of spite, but nearly all people who want him gone want him gone because they think that he can't get us as far as someone else could. If you asked any of those people that wanted Nellie gone if they wanted us to win a championship or lose the next two games the answer would be obvious.

I want the team to win, but Antoine Walker to fail. I'm not even kidding, the only chance we have of Nellie playing him less minutes is for him to play like absolute crap. But then again, it's Don Nelson we're talking about here... play Walker less? What am I thinking, I must be crazy!

I still have faith in him. Every once in a while, he comes out and makes some really good points, especially in gameday threads and such. But he just has a few viewpoints that not too many of us agree with.

Ummm.... I think Dirk's awesome and all, and this is clearly an academic issue, but anyone who would turn down a trade offer of Tim Duncan for Dirk is either: a) not paying attention; b) hopelessly in love with Dirk; c) looking to go down as the worst GM in NBA history; or d) all of the above.

That was so long ago when Finley was playing lights out....
fans forget things so easily because we really are so superficial and tend to lean towards the "what have you done for me lately" attitude....
I also said that because I was debating with fellow posters on minutes played and that Dirk playing a lot and leading in minutes resulted in a mediocre record.....
I for one truely believe Dirk should play as much as he can because he's the Mavs best scorer and puts the enemy at danger at all times but the stats speak for themselves....I just happened to find a stat that I liked to use just like most anti-Walkerer's point to his poor scoring efficiency and shooting percentages (yes all of them)....
in the end the Big 3 will be the ones to lead this team to a championship, not Walker so having him or not or having Jamison or not or having Najera or not won't matter....but the latter two fit this team "better" as one scores efficiently and the other doesn't need to score....

RE: Mavs fans cheering for this team to lose?
And I do feel the growing number of Mavs fans becoming Walker haters.....which is why I think they want the team to lose so they can see Walker traded....
IMO I think Walker is gone either way because either A) Cuban won't pay him the money he wants or B) The Mavs will get offers due to his contract status...

Typical unreasonable Walker-hating!
Your fanism is unacceptable!
I will remember this....
...and when Walker hits the game winner to win the Championship...
...you'll remember it....
....for I will remind you!

Thankfully, Mavs fans will forget all about your posts as soon as Walker's expiring contract is traded.
And it's a dead certainty that he's gone...either this summer or by the trade deadline.
Have a nice night, Puba.

Many websites have minimum age requirement of 13. We could set the age limit at 14 in Puba's case.

ashjensen- cast not this stone for it would be easy to portray your posting history here as something less than valuable, contributing or even craptacular. I'm still waiting for your initial coherent post.

Isn't there a quality clause in the site rules and regulations?

But Murph, if there was a "quality" clause... you would be banned.
Much like if you build it he will come philosophy: if you ignore the DAs they will go away.

RE:Mavs fans cheering for this team to lose?
Why does this thread exist?
Walker can start averaging a Triple-double and he'd STILL end up being traded. This isn't just basketball....This is BUSINESS which Cuban is very adept at.
If he sees a possible way to improve this team by trading Walker's contract(don't forget Walker himself, Mark....lol), then guess what?
EXACTLY!
I'm resigned to the fact that AW is finished here with Dallas as soon as the Playoffs are over......Only way that I see Walk staying is if the Mavs win the Championship which I don't see happening.....
GO MAVS!!

RE: Mavs fans cheering for this team to lose?
Mavs are going to win it......no team strikes fear in me but the Spurs and they can't score all that well....
their bench guys and role players can't be dependable to hit shots when it matters except for Horry maybe.....but once in a blue moon those guys stay hot and it's scary because Dunan is so great.....
