Elton Brand
Anyone think we should try and make a move for him? Great low post presence, but for a halfcourt team.

he definitely could use a trade, and his value is not all that high right now either. only problem is he's high risk high reward, but i could see him doing well here. dirk/brand/marion/terry/kidd would be very good at the end of a game in a half court set. hi lo with dirk and brand

Pass, unless you get Iguodala with him.
Josh, JJB, Matt, SWilliams, and Gooden for Brand + Iggy. If they refuse that, just walk away.
Iggy is a real SG we need, and if Drew can work at center, so can Brand.

Brand has a massive salary that no team is going to be interested in. He's not a good fit in Eddie Jordan's Princeton offense. The only team that would do it is a team that would do an even salary dump AND who's offense is run through the low post.

I think Sixers would dump Brand any time for just expirings.

Its a shot. Brand has 51Mio left after this season. If u discount Carrolls 12 Mio that we would pay him for towel waiving its 39mio for 3 years Brand. And more LT. And injury issues.
I would do it when there is no other trade and when Cuban still would do any Dustchip trade in 2010.

I'd rather move JJB and Keep Humphries - give Roddy JJB's minutes, but yes, I'd do it.
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Dallas and Philadelphia being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Dallas and Philadelphia had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

That would basically leave you the Dust Chip and JHo to move for a nasty SG. I am not sure who that is right now, but it would be available.

the only way we take Brand is if they throw us Speights or a top 3 protected 1st. or Lou Williams and Brand, which they are not going to do. they're both young cheap and good. Speights we could flip in another trade. Williams we would keep. that Brand contract is ugly. he looks pretty average these days. it'd be like giving Millsap max $ except Millsap is probably better than Brand at this point.

we don't have much playing time for him and he's WAY overpaid(and injury prone) BUT...
Corey Maggette in 26 min. per game is shooting 48% (16ppg) and gets to the line 6.8! times per game and shoots 'em at an 80% clip. also averaging a surprisingly good 5.3 rebounds. to put in perspective Pierce avgs. 5.8 fft in 35 mins. granted on a more half court oriented defesive -mided team, but still.
Maggette isn't a great defender and turns it over some. and we don't have tons of minutes for him. i'm just trying to think of guys we can get who can get to the rim/ft line in tight games come playoff time. GS would have to throw in A.Randolph or a protected 1st and take back Carroll. even that might not be enough to swallow that contract.
it would be nice to get a big that can post up and play a 2man game with Dirk to make the defense pay for doubling. in lieu of that... Maggette and a young chip?

Corey Regrette???? With that contract? And playing defense like Barea?
Hell, Brands contract is ugly but i take Brand anyday over Regrette and play him at center 30min a game.

Forgetting about the $$$$'s involved....would Brand be better than Damp or Gooden at the C postion?
He definitely pre-injury would have been, IMO. Now, I have no idea.
He is known as a shot blocker. He is very long for only being 6'9". Very nice wingspan.
He has range offensively and is very good inside. He can score, and score often.
My only questions are "Is he a fit?" and "the injury question" -- considering his $$$$$.
------------------
since I do not consider, LBJ, Kobe, Bosh, Wade, CP3, DWilliams, Roy, DHoward, Yao,or Garnett to be available for the Dust chip -- and I don't see any other BIGs out there that could really help the team (maybe Kamen or Camby) -- I'd consider trading for him, and then using the Dust chip on a SG. Dallas's biggest weakness right now, IMO is their bigs in comparison to LA's bigs. Brand, might be able to help resolve some of that.

He looks average because he's in the wrong system.

If we knew he stays healthy its a no brainer even if we have to play him half the game at center.
