Najera improving
Forward Eduardo Najera has made significant improvement this summer and should be pain-free by the time training camp starts in October.
Najera's rookie year last season was marred by a strained right groin that he suffered last summer while trying to make the team. Najera appeared Thursday at the Inner-City Games at the Bronco Bowl and informed Mavericks owner Mark Cuban that he's making substantial progress.
"He said he's doing a lot better," Cuban said. "He said when he works out and runs, it doesn't hurt. It just feels a little bit sore when he's done.
"But he'll be fine, because he doesn't have to play 40 minutes a game. If he plays 15-20 minutes a game, we'll be thrilled."
Najera sought a second opinion from a specialist in Miami earlier this month, but decided against having surgery. The Mavericks and Najera are banking on a summer of rest as being the tonic to restore his good health.
