i think the two who die will be either ginny, hermione, or ron

then harry gets pissed and kills voldemort.

i dont tihnk harry can die...bc wasnt the prophecy that..only one can survive--harry/voldemort?

A miserable title. Sense death is coming. Can't wait for it and the next movie.

I would be accepting of Harrys death, (although seeing it as a total cop out on her part)

If she kills Hermoine or Ron though, Im going to be pissed. Those two need to get it on and live happily ever after.

interesting title "deathly hallows"

hallow by itself isn't really a noun. hallow means to sanctify or make holy. or honor something.

?

a word of advice....don't judge the series on the first 3 books. They are a necessary step to get to the real good stuff, being 4, 5 and 6.

Though some people still claim 3 is their favorite.

Enjoy

yeah, my sister-in-law is CRAZY into the books. like even more than you guys even appear to be, and that's saying something. she let me know that, too.

i honestly don't know why i haven't gotten around to reading them until now. i think i was purposefully boycotting them becasue they were so popular...

but i watched the last movie (goblet of fire) and felt like there was A LOT missing (even though i hadn't read it). i felt like a lot of background and such just wasn't delved into. so i figure the books would give me that.

you hit it spot on my friend.

I can't wait to see how the next movie is destroyed by the Warner Brothers as well. I really do enjoy them, but they do not include crucial info for the movies that come ahead of them. They are not cohesive.

ok, so i read the first 3 on my vacation to mexico... and i wish i had brought the 4th as well. I really liked the first three, and had them read within 2 1/2 days of lounging on the beach. Wish i had something else to read for the remaining days.

but i have a week-long business trip in San Fran, and i'm bringing books 4 and 5.

I'm telling you, almost anyone that reads the firs three with an open mind will be hooked. I made fun of anyone and everyone that read them until I picked one up....then I quickly becaome obcessed.

ok, so i finished Goblet of Fire (harder to read start to finish in a short time when you actually have to work and can't just chill on the beach).

Anyway... was rowling even remotely involved in the making of the movie? it's like they used the book as a rough outline, then changed almost all the details. ridiculous...

i will say that i liked one minor thing better about the movie. that it was Neville that actually told him about the gillyweed. actually gave neville something to do, besides be an idiot. with dobby giving it to harry, it just felt so rushed (although the original plan in the book was for harry to find out from neville. wonder why rowling didn't make that work?).

ok, on to order of the phoenix.

And this discussion has solidified my choice in following her suggestion.
u2, i know you changed your mind and decided to read them, so you are probably on the same page as me.

i think your sister's idea is a HORRIBLE one! i was actually kind of upset after reading books 1-4 because i already knew what was going to happen (in the big picture of the plot). the books were definitely still enjoyable, but i really, truly feel like i cheated myself (especially with books 3 and 4 - those have more of a twist, and i had seen those movies more recently, so i remembered the plot better).

I can't wait to start book 5, because that will be the first one i've read without seeing the movie first. damn my non-conformist attitude, not wanting to read them because everyone else was.

See, now you see why we nerds were so upset with the movie. I still contend they're just awful.

I know I've said it before, but Dumbledore's character is just so wrong. I just can't imagine Rowling signed off on that.....

Prepare to be blown away by books 5 and 6. I can't imagine how bummed I would have been to read 3 and 4 after seeing the movies.

bbl, the one thing i didnt like about making neville give him the gilley weed is that it made neville into a thief because it was stolen from snape.

yeah, i see that 5-0... but they could have still had neville be the one to tell harry about the gillyweed, then have harry get it another way... because also, neville wouldn't have been able to get into snape's room because of the spell he cast on it.

but wait, i forget already... how did they get the stuff they needed for the polyjuice potion in book 2 out of snape's personal store?

Man, no kidding. Finishing HBP, and then realizing how long you'll have to wait to read the next is a bad, bad feeling.

They caused a distraction while in Snape's class, and Hermoine got it out of his cabinet or whatever.

I believe Harry threw a Filibuster Firework into a cauldron or something.

Yeah but in the movie even if they didnt want to deal with voicing and animating Dobby again, they could've had him leave it with a note or something......like Neville could steal something from Snape(?)

what a beating. I think that Dobby and Kreacher are in the new movie though. At least I know Kreacher is. If you don't know who Kreacher is yet, BBL you will soon.

(by the way lets not post any Book 5 or 6 spoilers for BBLs sake)

Now, I'm kind of new at this. I didn't read the series until after HBP was released.

So, how does one get a copy of the new book on the release day? I assume there are hundreds of people at every book store?

If you preorder from Amazon, do they ship it on the release date?

I ordered the last two from Amazon and have never had a problem. I want to say I got the book on the release date, or at the latest the day after. Its been awhile obviously, but I think that is what happened.

Either way, it beats waiting in line......with dorks.

I've never pre-ordered. and I like you, got caught up after OOTP was released, so I've only been through a release once.

Personally, I got Half Blood Prince at my local Albertsons. They had a certain number of copies to release at midnight and I signed up.

This time I plan to sign up ASAP at a Barnes and Nobles, and be there at midnight. They have reading parties or some crap I think, but I think Ill bolt and go home and commence the reading (no sleeping)

Oh and by the way, this release is only 8 days after The Order of the Phoenix is released in Theaters.

I would kind of rather it be more spread out, but whatever.

Dorkiness is a good thing, I just rather avoid the crowds.

Did you hear last time people were driving through the parking lots and yelling out the ending to the those standing in line?

So, you sign up for a copy, so you're guaranteed one? Then you just have to stand in line to wait to purchase it?
