The Boneman's Daughter is pretty solid by Ted Dekker. He's a thriller/Christian writer... although I didn't exactly see much involving Christianity in this particular book.

Will also pick up book 5 of Malloreon by David Eddings.. solid series so far.

Waiting on book 13 from Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson (Towers of Midnight)... this is a tremendous series that will continue this Fall.

I'm currently reading Freedom Summer: The Savage Season That Made Mississippi Burn and Made America a Democracy by Bruce Watson. Just came out last month. Very good.

The last non-fiction book that I read... I think I read a Terry Bradshaw biography back when I was Junior in high school or somesuch.

I think that reading non-fiction gives you a much more actionable better understanding of reality. Really, no matter the subject matter, a non-fiction book will at least give you knowledge you didn't previously have. A book of fiction, unless we're talking real definitive novels (the works of W. Somerset Maugham, for example), doesn't give me that. I feel like a more complete human being after reading a good piece of non-fiction than I do in something that is usually a complete fabrication.

i prefer fiction as well... but i really enjoyed the Michael Lewis' Sports books - Moneyball and The Blind Side.

I read that, but it looks like it has been put on the backburner. Which is a good thing to me, because they planned on casting shia labeouf as the lead. ugh.

the story lends itself VERY well to a movie adaptation. I'm only halfway through the collected editions, so don't know the conclusion (don't spoil it for me!!!!!!!!!!). But it really is a movie-type plot. It is based in reality (unlike the watchmen book conclusion, which would have been impossible to pull off in a movie). And they could remove a lot of stuff from the books and keep the central storyline.

Fables, on the other hand, is way too big of a story to tell in a movie. It has been rumored to be a TV series for quite some time as well.

But if you like comics, or "graphic novels", i highly recommend them both.

Im waiting on the ending to the wheel of time too. I really wish he had ended it before he died.

Neuromancer is great so far, I have barely taken a bite out of The Art of Dreaming (I will read a bit more today), and The Art and Practice of Geomancy is surprisingly approachable for the subject matter covered.

Finished Showdown.. It's pretty decent
Working on book 5 of the Malloreon. I'm looking forward to ending this series. It's a nice easy read, but it doesn't compare to The Wheel of Time or any other great Fantasy works.

Personally, as a white person, I've always felt that I had been a victim of racism or African American privilege... definitely much more than the "white privilege" that I have been "subjected" to.

I finished book 5 of the Mallorean. It was a solid ending to a solid series.

I read Odd Thomas this past week.. by Dean Koontz. This is one of my favorite books of all time. Odd, Stormy and the rest of the characters.. let's just say that the reader definitely likes and cares about the characters. Koontz did an amazing job with this one. I'm about 200 pages in on the second Odd Thomas book.

lol isn't a main point of white privilege that we're so accustomed to it that we don't realize it.

I read "The Road" just recently. Can't figure out why. That one I'll be selling back to half priced books. The story was well told, I guess, but I can't see a reason to tell it.

I made it about 20 pages into the second book and that's when Fonzie got on his motorcycle and jumped that damn shark tank. Koontz is the best example of a template writer I have ever come across. His books are like a set of Mad-Libs filled out at a writing seminar. That said, I did kind of dig Lightning when I was in my teens.

The second book was more like a 5 out of 10. I like the character alot. But, the second book was pretty much just one long chase scene in a movie. There just wasn't enough of the supporting characters that were so great in the first book.

I thought the ending was much more rushed in Catching Fire. But the unexpected twists in Mockingjay were awesome and well worth the price of admission. I am curious how it's going to translate to the big screen, assuming it makes it that far. Collins wrote the script for Hunger Games so that's promising. She does have experience doing that, so it was cool that she was given the opportunity to adapt her own book.

And Flaco.... you would probably like it. It's Science Fiction, and it's got lots of killing, and it's got lots of people that you won't like.... sounds almost perfect for you. (just kidding). I'd seriously give it a try with the first book.
