Delonte West
So the D-League has signed him. He would rather be with the Texans than the Grizz. My first reaction is I wonder why he would rather be there than with a team headed to the playoffs with a legit shot at going to the Finals? Then I remember it is Delonte.
So are the Mavs trying to bring him back? And would you want him back?

Dallas might just be more his scene than Memphis.
I'd take him back if he quit bitching about money. The team could clearly use an upgrade at backup point, and he's pretty clearly the best player attainable without a trade.

Did he get offered by Memphis?
If he did and chose to go the D-league route, then I expect him to join the Mavs soon. They must have had some sort of communication if he felt the need, as you said, to turn down a playoff contender's offer.

If he's got his head back on his shoulders, then I'd actually say he's a bigger, more defensive Collison-- which is to say he should get playtime here. He's still not a play maker and still doesn't make the best decisions but his offense and aggression are on par with Collison and he can be a pest on defense at times. It at least improves our defense and our offense is doing alright now that dirk is back and Brand has found his rhythm.
My concern is his sanity. Dude has always been an amazing basketball player-- he just goes nuts and need to take off extended periods to get back to a good place.

Ben and Skin covered this yesterday. According to them, Delonte wants to be a Mav. Period. Ben and Skin said that their contacts within the organization suggest no interest from the MBT in West (they like Mike James), but Delonte believes if he can show he is in shape and a good citizen then there will be an opportunity. They also said Delonte has been working on his shot by playing on an outdoor hoop with a chain net. Not sure if they were serious about the last part.

Good to hear. Loved his attitude on the court, but guy was a distraction.
I get we're desperate, but on all those calling for him: What's next? Acquiring Odom?

West is a better all around option at PG than anything we're currently throwing out there.

Man I love you but I don't see it that way. I think he is just like every other PG here that does some nice things but not exceptional and also has some bad things they do. Delonte has upstairs stuff that can't fit well with our over all imbalance.
He needs a place where he knows his role and it's consistent. That's not what he gets here, and it's because he's not good enough to start and take us anywhere the current guys can't. So Imo, we roll on and battle with what we got, UNLESS they can make a move or two that WILL bring a PG that is beyond question better.

He must be a real dickhead to not even be considered over Mike James.

Signing Delonte back would show a pitiful hand. We let him go because of conduct detrimental to the team, I can't imagine how bad it would look to bring him back. Imo, his time here is thru. I don't wanna head any further towards mockery.

I'm pretty sure Eddy Curry, Troy Murphy, CDR, Derek Fisher, and Mike James have already shown that hand.

HAh, I know but back from attitude issues that we already let him go from... when he's known bipolar?

I'm not really for or against West...although over Mike James, hard to say no. I was just saying that the team's desperation is fairly apparent.

That desperate and they STILL won't bring him back. It should show how low his stock is when looking through the eyes of the front office.

West would be a pretty big upgrade as a back up point guard. I think rather than showing desperation, it shows a bit of the inability to admit mistakes and prideful nature of the front office. Had any personality issues with West been corrected in the offseason, we perhaps would have had a solid second option when RC decided to sit Collison down rather than watching us slump into the worst month the organization has seen in over a decade and sign 2 horrible alternatives way past their primes hoping for a miracle...

I like west he should be on the court period. Oh look there goes Calderon that averages more then 10 points and 10 assists a game when he starts! Cuban pull your head out of your ass and get us some players!!! So Dirk stays here and I will start buying tickets again! Ever sense we didnt sign Chandler and Barea back I havent been to a game! That was a terrible roster move! Made me loose a lot of faith! Yes we still have dirk I know but he cant score 100 points by himself!
