Dallas is one of the very most non-descript, crap big cities in America. No one lives there on purpose except for old folks and idiots.

Portland sounds like a very nice place to live. Not sure it has much that Dallas doesn't, though. And I'm pretty sure it lacks a lot of things that Dallas does have.

Except for craft beer. Portland is doing very well in that regard.

Dallas has steak houses on Portland -- I'll give them that.

Portland had 3 or 4 times the number of brew pubs, and nearly as many restaurants at a fraction of Dallas' pop.

It's no secret that Dallas sucks hind teat as a place to actually live...

Oh, there is no...way...that Portland rates with Dallas when it comes to restaurants. No way. Dallas is a food town, if nothing else.

What exactly are your criteria for a nice place to live? If it's geography, and you like the Pacific Northwest better, fine. You won't get any argument here. But other than that, isn't Portland just an Austin without the college scene?

Dallas is a food city like the Olive Garden is an Italian restaurant.

Neither place are Tokyo or Paris; you can ride a bicycle from one good place to another in Portland. Dallas is ugly sprawl.
