Just a question... Would you actually consider Jordan a "big fish"? I think the answer is probably "yes" mainly because of his age and defensive abilities... But, well, it'll be interesting to see how he develops offensively.

He's the best center in the league right now.

I have him third after Marc Gasol and Cousins. Although, not a huge fan of Cousins, I guess you could convince me that he is the second best. Howard though... Played extremely well in the playoffs. I don't know, Jordan is the fourth best at worst.

Not quite, but that still wouldn't be saying all that much.

When it's the last years of Dirk. It says a whole lot. Especially Jordan choosing the contract Dallas offered.

What I was getting at is that saying he's among the best centers in the NBA isn't really saying that much right now considering how bad a state the position is in right now. But obviously a tremendous signing.

Would you consider him the biggest FA this team has ever signed?
Considering Parsons supposed influence I'd say he might actually be the best FA we ever signed.
Funny how much of an effect the initials CP had on this deal if it goes through. One CP pulled him to us and the other CP virtually drove him to us.

Saying he's the best FA the Mavs have ever signed is about like saying Bruce Jenner is the hottest celebrity 60 something year old whatever the hell he/she is...

Agreed that the answer is a probably yes.
But can we all at least agree that if the Mavs end up acquiring Wes Matthews, DeAndre Jordan, and at PG somebody like Lin, Mo Williams, or Cory Joseph...then the offseason has to be declared a dramatic success for the Mavs' front office? Obviously nobody can predict the future. But we swung for the fences and the ball may have shot off the bat in a hurry here.

Con confirm reports that DeAndre Jordan is "leaning heavily" to sign with Dallas Mavericks. @ESPNSteinLine reported first.

ESPN sources say DeAndre Jordan is on verge of accepting Mavs' four-year, $80M+ max offer. Dallas firmly in lead and decision likely today

With Jordan's youth and crazy athleticism for his size. He's the top center you want. Not to mention Carlisle has him to mold into a champion. I'm ready for this!

Boy, we may look back at Houston not matching our offer for Parsons as a big moment years down the road. Maybe this will be the start of a good youth movement coming to the big D.

Sad to think the days of calling this Dirk's team is all but over but I think that just happened today.
Just glad Dirk has a nice young core to work with now and hopefully we'll be able to give him one last shot at a title.

28th in the league in PER
2nd among centers in Rebound Rate
2nd among centers in offensive rebound rate
2nd among centers in defensive rebound rate
2nd among centers in TS%
Tied with Cousins among centers for 2nd in Wins Added. Only Marc Gasol provided more
All defensive first team (2015)
Two time NBA rebound leader (2014 and 2015)
Feb 2015-end of regular season he averaged 20.2 rpg
During Griffin's injury he averaged 17.2ppg, 18.5 rpg, and 2.0 blocks
He may not be a superstar but he provides everything we need and puts up better numbers than Howard, who was considered a "big fish" I'd also wager he makes his first all star game this season. His numbers without Griffin were off the charts.

Matthews, Parsons, DeAndre is a fantastic core with plenty of years left in their careers, god willing.
This could
1) put us in good shape to make the playoffs again this year, and
2) secure a good chance to attract free agents next offseason when the cap goes up
It is difficult not to be excited right now.

So apparently Jerry Jones and Dez Bryant recorded videos urging Jordan to join Dallas. If that's the case than kudos to the FO for thinking that up. Who knows if it made any impact, but it's still cool they did it. Now Jerry has to pay Dez.....but that's a whole other forum.

Hell yes! I don't know how Chandler Parsons does it but the man has a silver tongue. We just got a younger Dwight Howard. Now we just need a PG and we have a very competitive team.

I seriously would love to take a paid class from Chandler Parsons on charm and persuasion. The dude needs to write the next version of How to Win Friends and Influence People. Dale Carnegie eat your heart out.

Wondering if Beverley is his/our next target but I think he is restricted and not sure we have enough to outbid Houston.

Hilariously the Clippers' only have $2.1 million to sign a starting center. Mavs ruined pretty much any chance they had this season

They might be getting Hibbert from Indy via us. Better than nothing (barely). They should give us a pick for our trouble
