Theories have been abounded. But I stick with the idea Kidd was trying to force Wood to buy into being less of a liability on the defensive end and wasn't going to start him until it was far enough along the process.

I don't agree with it, but Wood has opined to as much in his interviews lately and that's all we really have other than conspiracies....

It's a fair point. Ironically the Jazz went from 51 wins the year before Mitchell to 48 wins his rookie year. The bottom line is you never know.

I am not as opposed to playing Powell sa some on this board. He knows his defensive assigments and he gives 110% all the time. He and Luka also has a pick and dunk energy going on there. Wood is definitely the better player but DP is usable.

I think you'll find most don't mind Powell playing. It's more as to how much and who he's playing over, which to start the season he was blocking Wood.

Powell is pretty important to this team. But he'd be much more efficient in a more limited role.

Some good updates on Josh Green on my twitter TL with him scrimmaging and doing more. Kidd left the door open for a return tomorrow. While I doubt that, it does sound like he is close.

Edit: he's out for tomorrow but "He's close to returning" according to T-Mac

Just saw this and if true, it's about damn time. As long as Luka doesn't go the route of LeGM, we should be fine. But this needed to be addressed between super star and a FO who apparently thought this was enough. If they listen to anyone, it has to be Luka and for my money, I'd get Dirk to be a little more involved as an advisory voice.

The author of the mural was on SportsRadio 1310 The Ticket this afternoon. He said that Cuban asked the mural author to reach out to him via e-mail in which he did. I really appreciated what he told Cuban in saying that he was attempting to campaign for all MFFL's since 2011 in how poorly the FO has performed in bringing in new talent. Cuban apparently didn't enjoy the response (even though it's abundantly true) and told him that he will always support his team and the players at all cost. Not what we want to hear, but I can understand his position. The author did go on to say that he's working directly with Luka to create a new mural that works well for everyone, but did not disclose the amount of money that Luka will be paying him. The mural author stated over and over again that he did not do this for money and I think he's being incredibly sincere about it.

He certainly isn't winning over any fans, new or old. He just feels like...too much. I don't think an owner should be sitting with the bench on road trips. I don't mind him being a big fan, let's just keep some boundaries.

Cuban is not the fan boy that he used to be and is still caught up from the success in 2011. Mavs fans have moved on from that and he needs to do the same.

I just don't like the bs he spews. Just shoot it straight, because people are not dumb. It would take some spending to win me back, but I could definitely be bought...with some quality roster turnover.

I absolutely love Dirk for everything he has been and done for this organization but not sure if Dirk has a strong opinion on anything.

I mean, I can see why Cuban is fucked. If we spend big, we are in the repeaters tax and that gets REALLY expensive quickly. Not everyone can afford to be the Warriors.

I just wish he'd be honest for once in his life and tell us that.

Also if we are cash and asset tapped, maybe we should trade Luka. Luka is going to be miserable with no ankle cartilage anyway in a year or two. Hell, maybe by the end of this season with all the losing streaks and over-play.

I don?t want Luka gone. I don?t. I would rather we upgrade and fix things.

But sometimes you spend everything you have to stay relevant with the last guy and waste the few assets you have. You get one good draft pick and it?s a star but the roster around them is just such shite that the rest of the roster needs a total overhaul. That?s fine if you?ve got 40-50 million in cap space like the Hawks or tons of picks to draft support or trade for support. Sadly we?re both over the cap and don?t have our 2023 FRP because of KP.

We just have a hard decision. If we can?t be relevant, Luka walks and we have no plan B. That?s a worst case scenario and based on NBA history, were unlikely to be good again for 10-20 years.

There?s no shame in trading a star if you know you can?t surround him. Just look at what the Pelicans did with Davis. A few years later and they?re damn good and Lakers still owe them a lottery pick.

I?m not saying we need to trade Luka now, but we have to make a really hard decision and a lot of it comes down to the success or lack thereof in the next three weeks. This year is that critical. We?re 1-5 and haven?t beaten a good team in over a month. If that?s not a ticking clock, I don?t know what is.

Then again, Cuban is known for ?loyalty? which means he will put his fingers in his ears and say he supports his guys until Luka just walks.

I don't think I could stand seeing Luka in another uniform while we go through an OKC like build, no. I'd rather make the playoffs and lose with Luka.
