Might have something to do with him and others not getting all those FT from bullshit foul calls when they jump into defenders. I love the rule change so far.

Cept the refs now think that defenders can absolutely mangle Luka and it's fair because of the new rule.

Derozen 37pts/7reb on 20 shots. Sure wish we could have landed him!

Despite Luka and Dirk, Dallas will always be a second/third tier destination behind LA, NY, CHI, and BOS

What was the story with Derozan? Did he even entertain or consider other teams? Seems these dudes have the next team lined up prior to FA even starting and maybe the Mavs new FO will be able to adopt the norm. I think the Mavs signing THJ so quickly is a good indicator that Derozan gave the thanks but no thanks.

well the Heat looked terrible cuz they shot terrible against Boston... got blown out.
another obs - Tatum is shooting below 40% to start the year. i'm sure he'll heat up but some of these other "Stars" are also struggling and not playing the best as of yet this season.

A lot of guys are struggling with their shooting percentages. Is the new ball really affecting them that much? Any idea why they switched the ball in the first place? I know they tried switching it years ago and they switched back because the players hated it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Money. Wilson paid more.
I'm sure it has something to do with it, but then Seth Curry's shot says otherwise.
There was a similar issue in 2006 when they went from leather to synthetic. Players gotta just get over it.

This may be a weirder season than even last season. The rule change has had massive impacts on play and many excellent players (Luka, Lillard, etc) are totally terrible to start the season.
I think it all comes down to refs not really knowing how to call the new rules. They're letting defenders absolutely maul shooters without a call, which I don't think is the intent of the rules. Hopefully, they will figure out what the rule change actually meant (unnatural basketball moves meant to cause contact) and will start calling actual fouls on defenders.

On the flip side, it's nice to see teams actually be able to defend without being called for ticky tack fouls. Doubt the Mavs would be able to play the defense they are playing last season.
But being a star driven league, I'm sure they'll tweek it down the road.

Shams Charania: NBA-Boxing world crossover, per sources: Former All-Star and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Deron Williams will fight on the Jake Paul/Tommy Fury undercard bout on Dec. 18. Frank Gore — third on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list — is a potential opponent for Williams.

Celtics and Sixers have engaged on a trade for Simmons which Shams said has to include Jaylen Brown. IF the Celtics trade Brown then they are either really stupid or he is really badly injured.

Wow. The other Morris brother gives Jokic a cheap shot to the ribs. And joker wasn’t having it. Joker is a big mfin dude. He takes care of his own shit. Glad Morris got his come uppance. Game wasn’t even close at that point. Typical Morris thug work. Born and raised
Spoelstra et al saying Morris was just “taking a foul”. BS - who takes a foul with an elbow to someone’s ribs?

It was a direct shot to the knee and upper ribs in a compromised position. Props to Jokic for defending himself. I could say maybe get in his face versus the back push, but he wasn't the coward in the situation to hit and walk away.
And LOL at Marcus' tweet "noted" -- you aren't going to do shit about it.
Spoelstra is an idiot for his statement. Tyler Herro aka Luka's Level was a big ole noodle, initially tried to act tough towards Jokic and backed off fairly quickly.

Morrises are the biggest b$&@es in the league. Mediocre players who have built careers in thuggery.
If I’m Luka, I’m calling the Joker and thanking him.

Pretty sure every fan outside of Miami is on Joker's on this. Karma is a funny thing.

Nope but it's great publicity for them either way.

Seth Curry out with another mysterious injury (foot contusion?). No doubt we lost the trade, but there were legitimate reasons for trading him.

Yeah I honestly don’t blame them for giving jrich a try.
I know lots here love s bey but when I look at philly I wish we would’ve taken maxey. He was mocked to us by some. We could’ve had maxey to maxi lobs and threes all day… sigh

Yeah that was my biggest concern with him which I know sounds stupid with how many mystery injuries KP has, but Seth will always be an injury risk and will never play 82.
Hell of a human, superhuman shooter, just can’t stay healthy on that foot and that limits his defense.

Maxey with 33pts, 4 boards, 5 assists, a steal, 2 blocks - only 2 TO's in 40 minutes.

Take your pick of those picked immediately after JG. Bey, Bane, Maxey et al score more points in one week of games than JG has in career. JG has no basketball skills. Yes he is a good athlete but big deal. Again just from a probability theory perspective the Mavs could have had a chimp throw a dart at a board of available names at #18 and hit on a better player than JG.
Whiff.......

It can't be overstated how bad we fucked up the 2020 draft.
Precious, Maxey, Bey.... all showed translatable skills that even us couch GMs could see. The only thing that eases the pain is how good our 2018 draft was and the fact that Omoruyi looks like a UDFA gem.
We can not fuck up the 2022 draft. We just can't.

Myles Turner ejected after scuffle, Pacers can't have that distraction...
They should trade him to the Mavs, we will give them Powell, DFS, and Green, maybe throw in a 2nd if it's needed.

Yikes…
StatMuse: Russell Westbrook is averaging the most career turnovers per game in NBA history (4.1). Even if he were to have 0 turnovers for the rest of this season, he would still hold the all-time record.

seth 0-7 to start tonight with 3 fouls
i know embiid is out
definitely going to be some ups and downs to the season cuz it's early
but good to remember that having him wasn't necessarily going to be perfect either

Kept telling buddies this was an awful pairing and signing, just doesn't fit that team well at all. Not sure what their options were at the time, so maybe they threw a hail mary, but LeBron and AD need a facilitator who can shoot and space the floor out.
