1) Bucks have significant problems this season and Mavs trade for Giannis at the TDL when the Bucks are on pace to be in the play-in. Giannis is happy to play with Luka and his youngest son, Maverick, is thrilled.

2) Kyrie asks for a trade by the TDL. Mavs outperform expectations before and after the trade.

3) 76ers will miss the playoffs and will have a fire sale by the TDL

I actually have the dead opposite view of Kyrie. I think Kyrie is going to be extremely motivated to prove his doubters wrong and he's going to be completely locked in to be successful with the Mavs, not just this season, but for the duration of his contract. A lot can happen in three years, or even one, but I think Kyrie is serious about wanting to spend the rest of his career here.

And I think we will an elite offense and win 50+ games.

OMax becomes staring SF after mavs trade Green at TDL. Mavs dont want another Brunson situation.

Kyrie quits on the team by Christmas.

Luka starts hinting to be traded toward the end of the season.

Powell is our starting center on day 1 and game 82.

Doom and Gloom?????
Yes... I dont see any reason why Kyrie would become anything different than what he has been. We already saw the small sample size and how that turned out.

6th seed if everyone stays healthy and the roster stays the same. Kidd is the wildcard. If he returns to form as the coach he was when he first got here we could be as high as 4th seed. Climbing any higher would require a legit center, coach upgrade, everyone playing team defense. The truth is usually somewhere in between, like a handful of games above .500

Mild take is that Luka has a hot start to the season and ends up wearing down and slipping out of the MVP race again like he did last year.

Mavs S&T Wood and THJ and McGee for Ben simmons. Nets pay to unload simmons and beside taking McGee send Mavs the Suns 2025 1st round pick.

If he's really ready to play, then maybe. He is a hell of a defender and his passing is elite.

You nailed one of the problems: our system requires wings to shoot and Simmons could be worse than Shaq at it, which would force him into playing center for us. He's a super-switchable center and hard-nosed defender. I don't think 6'10" is that "small ball" these days, but he would mostly be limited to minutes at the 5.

The other problem is that he's making 2years/77 million. That's a hell of a lot of cheddar for a guy who plays the same position as our FRP (and Powell, Holmes, Kleber, McGee) and who has played 1/4 of the games these last two seasons (50% last season and 0% the season before)

But maybe THJ/Holmes/McGee gets it done, McGee is healthy, and it all works out. I'm not sure who says no there unless there are FRPs attached. Mavs get a potential starting 5 and clear the logjam for Green and Hardy. Nets save money and have been desperate to move on from the Simmons move. Mavs create an all-aussie team of Kyrie, Green, and Exum

Just a hot take. I'd just rather bring back wood and keep THJ. Wood on a 1 year deal in his 20 mpg scoring role would probably have trade value at some point after december 15th or whenever he became eligible to deal. Eventually during the season injuries occur.
