Said he wanted to play with Luka but I guess Cuban wasn't listening since he wasn't a star player.

I'm on record for wanting both Lauri and Kessler. Our FO just sucks, plain and simple.

But there are fans who think DFS and Maxi are players we can't live without as well. People literally saying why get Lauri when we have Maxi at that time. So it's not just the FO.

I wanted him too, but to be fair he ended up being a part of a trade package that got Cleveland Donavan Mitchell, and before that was traded from the Bulls to Cavs that involved multiple first round draft picks. So I have to assume we never had the assets to get him even if he wanted to come here.

I think Dinwiddie has proved to be a legit 2nd or 3rd option

The key will be if Luka is willing to play off ball a little more to close out games.

This team also needs to find away with Luka, Wood and Dinwiddie on the floor together to play some form of defense.

I'm guessing those 3 with bullock, DFS or Green need to be on the floor to protect them or Luka and Dinwiddie need to give more effort defensively

Clearly he was available because he got traded. Whether we had the assets to obtain him is a different story.

Maybe the first trade to the Cavs where he only cost a FRP and a SRP.

Even then, our FRP would have been five years out because of the KP deal and thus not nearly as appealing.

As for the Cleveland->Utah trade where five FRPs traded spots? We had no chance. All the word out of Utah is that they valued him highly even then and would have cost 2-3 FRPs if he was even available at all.

But for some reason the Mavs refuse to play luka off ball more. I think Dinwiddie can be aggressive early in games and get buckets with Luka off ball.

But the Mavs simply haven't found that balance between the two players on the floor together
