Blow up and then what? We don’t have KG and Ray Allen.

A mediocre team has no real assets. It’s not like we can trade JRich for a couple of FRPs and start over.

Blow up coaching staff might be a start. What is your suggestion? Run back the same group again with the hope that Luka will go 35 12 and 12? Not enough talent around him. Unless we get better at drafting hidden gems or suddenly free agents want to come here I am afraid we will be mediocre for years to come with the best player in the league not making it past the 1st or 2nd round in playoffs.

Dwight Powell. We all hate him, but we are also so sure that you could package him with Richardson or THJ or someone else we hate, and trade him for Zach Lavine. Problem is Donnie loves our boys in blue, and would never do it. This is evidenced by the fact that the Mavs did not go get Drummond, Cousins, Blake, Mclemore, or any of the other players that teams didn’t want.

Why on Earth would the Bulls trade their star for Powell and THJ?

Also THJ and Richardson are most likely both FAs and can’t be traded

That Julius Randle trade that was theorized about early in the season would look good about now.

I'm depressed. I'm hoping all you smart people have an idea on how we build around Luka before he gets fed up and bolts. It takes time is not a good answer. We need serious pieces around Luka. Still think we missed an opportunity in the draft this year.

Randle has become a floor spacer. He has worked on that part of his game, because he knows it's important. Good for him.

Who is the player that the Mavs have told us doesn't fit the system, so they decided to pass?

Man I said way back when he was in LA Mavs needed to go after him. He’s the bully and hard nosed player this team desperately needs, and he can score.

Usually two excuses: he’s not worth the money he will get, and my favorite: he doesn’t fit our system lol

This is now the Mavs new bench rotation

Brunson
Redick
THJ
Powell

Now ask yourself how the fuck does a team think they can get stops with those types of lineups?

RC goes midget ball with Powell anchoring the middle off the bench

That's why I despise this guy as a coach when he gets small players. He will go that route more often than not.....

Sad part is Redick had more rebounds than Powell

This team could very well be on a 6 game losing streak if Giannis doesn't miss that Bucks game and Memphis doesn't choke their last minute FT's

But Cuban and Donnie was convinced that the top half of the rotation was legitimate....

While Denver and Phoenix each made aggressive trades to get them closer to contending the Mavs prefer to continue to slap duct tape on their roster.

Umm, how about going after players who can actually exert their will against top NBA players, and THEN build the system around them, instead of trying to make players fit Rick's system, whether they can pull it off, or not?

Kind of like the Cowboys passing on TJ Watt because Taco Charlton fit the SYSTEM better..

This is the Lakers lineup without LeBron & AD

Shroeder
KCP
Morris
Kuzma
Drummond

Think about that for minute.....

That is a rock solid lineup that could still matchup with the Mavs even without LeBron and AD that's how much of a talent gap the Lakers have over the Mavs.

That's not even taking into account Horton-Tucker, Harrell and Carruso coming off the bench.

The Mavs didn't trade for Drummond because they said he doesn't fit with KP. Now despite them struggling on the boards and repeatedly getting bullied inside by strong players they felt Drummond wasn't needed because he gets in the way of KP.

Yet recently we've seen them play Powell & KP minutes up front together.

They stagger minutes all the time with their top rotation players so they are saying it would have been hard to get Drummond minutes even when KP was off the floor or had to rest on B2B nights.

The going rate for Drummond was a 2nd round pick and salary match basically next to nothing.....

The sad part is imagine the Mavs having to play the Lakers in a critical game and watching Drummond go for 18 points and 20+ rebounds with 6+ of those rebounds coming on the offensive glass.

Where did the Mavs ever come out and say Drummond doesn’t fit with KP? I must have missed that quote.

I don't have the podcast link anymore where Donnie was interviewed right before the deadline and the topic about Drummond came up.

But over the last two season's you can you find specific quotes regarding Mavs and their feelings about Drummond and potential fit. Now if you feel they don't directly tie into him playing with KP then that's your stance and opinion we all have our own opinion's based on quotes and things we might have read or heard.

Here's a few I was able to dig up again

SI.com quotes from earlier this season
A year ago, the Mavs were connected to Drummond in NBA trade rumors. Those rumors were shot down by the Mavs, with one ‘high-ranking Mavs official’ telling the Dallas Morning News than Drummond just didn’t make sense for them.

The fit with Kristaps Porzingis, who played his best basketball last season when playing at center, is questionable for sure, but ask yourselves this question: After what you’ve seen through the preseason and the first two games of this Mavs regular season, would you rather rely on Dwight Powell or Andre Drummond as one of your most featured bigs?

Mavs’ trade deadline plans amid Andre Drummond talks

Contrary to what most pundits say, Rick Carlisle does not believe that the Dallas Mavericks should move heaven and earth to try and acquire Andre Drummond before the trade deadline next month.

On @1053thefan just now, Rick Carlisle said he doesn't see a big man/rebounder as a pressing trade-deadline pursuit, but "You know Mark and Donnie. These guys are gunslingers. They're riverboat gamblers, and they're ready to talk about anything that would get the team better."

I don't think they were ever serious about him.

I'd much rather had used that 2nd round pick the Pistons were asking for on Drummond as opposed to the 2nd round pick spent on acquiring Redick

But the offense plays 5 out and there were a few rumors/podcast interviews that spoke of how Drummond being a traditional Center just didn't make sense for the Mavs.

I just don't understand the notion at times how a team that relies soley on 3-Pt shooting wouldn't be interested in a guy who could've brought more balance to their offense inside and fixed their rebounding issues at the same time.

He was allegedly courted by the Nets, Clippers and Lakers all teams better than Dallas yet the Mavs didn't feel as though he was good enough for them.

I'm like how can a guy be good enough for 3 elite teams but not good enough for your own sub par .500 team (SMH)

Neither of those quotes say that the Mavs saw Drummond as a bad fit next to KP.
“Just doesn’t make sense” could be anything. The journalist might suggest its because of the fit next to KP, but nowhere did the Mavs say that.

Rick saying he doesn’t see a big man as a need also says nothing about Drummond. I don’t recall seeing any Mavs official say they think KP and Drummond are a bad fit together.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Mavericks recently "explored discussions on a trade with the Cavaliers" for Drummond.

Why would they explore a trade if they thought it was a bad fit with their 2nd best player?

Dwight Howard, Cousins, Christian Wood.

I think what is more telling is that they flat out stated they didn't really need another big despite all the rebounding issues this team has had over the past few years.

They are content with getting exploited on the boards by any big guy that shows an aggressive style of play.

I mean for crying out loud Kelly Olynk avg 6 rebounds per game going into that last Houston vs Dallas matchup and dude looked like Bill Walton on the glass vs dallas.

Cousins probably played his best game of the year vs guess who the Mavs.....

Zubac of all people seems to always look dominate on the boards vs Dallas.

They simply lack a physical inside big yet the coaching staff will come out and tell you they don't really see a need for another big.

You want to know why because Small ball rules in this system and they feel more comfortable living and dying that way.

I'm like how can a guy be good enough for 3 elite teams but not good enough for your own sub par .500 team (SMH)
