Theo Ratliff or the Big Z? How can we get them to Dallas
I've had enough of Antoine Walker. He takes too many ill-advised shots. And I don't know if you guys have noticed (I'm sure you have)...but A-Walk is a terrible, and I mean, terrible free throw shooter. He's hitting a little over 50% of his FTs. That's ridiculous. But what bothers me is that Walker, I believe, is hurting the play of Nowitski. I know Nowitski himself deserves a lot of the blame. With that said, I just feel that Walker needs to go. Comparing him to Jamison...give me Antwan over Antoine anyday. Here's a couple of trades that I propose involving A-Walk:
1)
Dallas trades Antoine Walker
Dallas receives Big Z
Why Dallas does it? There's a legitmate concern if Big Z can keep up with the Mavs run and gun style. There's also concern about his lack of defense. But you know what? He's 7'3", he does NOT shoot 3's (ala Lafrentz)...he gets the bulk of his points down low. I just think he would be a nice fit here in Dallas.
Why Cleveland does it? I think Paul Silas isn't a big fan of Big Z. The fact that Walker only has a year remaining on his contract is definitely enticing. By the way, Big Z only has a year remaining as well. The fact that Walker and King James are really close friends doesn't hurt either. I think Silas likes both Batie and Diop manning the middle (Diop is hurt right now though)
2)
Dallas trades Antoine Walker and Eduardo Najera
Dallas receives Theo Ratliff and Alan Henderson
Why Dallas does it? Theo Ratliff. Simple as that. All he does is rebound and block shots. Nuff said. I've liked him ever since he came into the league. He simply does all the dirty work. Is he undersized in the West? Yes. O well.
Why Atlanta does it? Salary cap reasons. Henderson is the Abdul-Wahad for their team. By far, Talent-wise, I think Atlanta gets the better end of this deal.
Your thoughts

go to www.realgm.com and try the trades on the "trade checker" - make sure the money works. I feel like it would work on your first suggestion - but I'm not sure about the 2nd.

No thanks on this one. Dallas gets screwed in this deal.

Xerxes: Both deals work under RealGm
Kg_Veteran: You think Dallas gets screwed in both deals? I don't know about that. How much do you think Walker is worth? Would you rather have Jamison or Walker?

RE: Theo Ratliff or the Big Z? How can we get them to Dallas
Both is a big mistake IMHO... One MUST go for a center so that the other can start!!! I really think Walker should go if anyone does, but Jamison will probably be the one to move... Hell it could be argued that both be moved for a Center and very good backup point...
GOOD CENTER
DIRK
HOWARD
FINLEY
NASH - with GOOD BACKUP POINT GIVING HIM REST...
I think the team would benefit the most by keeping Jamison though and letting Antawn get the majority of his shots from the misses of Dirk, Nash, and Finley. To me, that would be better than letting Antoine shoot his BRICKS that he throws up there via the fade-away jumper and three point shot... Sure he can get hot and really take over a game, but so can everyone else... Stay with who is consistent and get defense and we are ready to go for it all...

But of course...all this is a MOOT point 'cause the only trade that cuban will probably make is Best For Ely.

I don't see why we have to choose. We have them both. We could trade one, but we don't have to trade one.

Now for the big "IF" --- if Dirk had been healthier this year we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Maybe not, maybe so. Dirk was struggling this year even before his ankles became a problem. And there are other problems with this team other than just Dirk's health. Bradley's injuries have hurt us as well. But even with everyone healthy this team is short of NBA sized centers.
